Chaps how does the business end feel? Backbone? Scritch? Scratch? Is it crispy when dry?
Characteristics are what you would expect from the standard Silvertip 2 Band when it's dry, but when it's wet it is very gel like and incredibly soft, a little bit different from the standard S2B feel and closer to a Romera Manchurian in my opinion - but much much softer, it even clumps up similar to the Romera i own.

Might be premature to say this after a test lather, but this may be one of the best knots i have had the pleasure of using. Thanks again for you efforts organising this group buy :)

It's too early to give an indication of backbone - I bowl lather so that will be the real test as I haven't even washed it yet - looks too good to get wet! As for feel, It's undoubtedly the softest tips I've had - I don't recall my Thater feeling quite so good and that's a superb knot. Maybe the comparison isn't fair because of the different shape, but my 24mm Shavemac bulb was a disappointment in terms of performance - although I do use it weekly for my gym shave. The 26mm fan just feels a far superior hair.

Wow from yourself Andy that is quite an endorsement. I have to say my last bulb unique knot (previous group buy) reminded me so much of my Paladin that with a blind test I couldn't tell between the two. The unique knot definitely is a winner.

With regard to manchurian hair, these unique and my DO1 seem to best replicate this type of knot visually and with respect to backbone. I appreciate that the only difference is density. Then again Bernd mentioned that Manchurian hair is but a length of normal 2 band. From the neck but not necessarily from a different type of badger.

Cheers Rob, I remember you were not over the moon with the first LE, which was disappointing. Glad this brush at a very early stage feels and looks better or at least more to your liking. Look forward to hearing your thoughts on this brush in rough comparison to your Thater. Definitely try face lathering with it, these tips should be truly great on the face. I remember asking @Dipesh If I should bowl lather first then paint lather to my face, with the Paladin brush. In my head he swore but his reply was an adamant 'no' and 'don't waste these tips on a bowl'..... never used a bowl with a top badger since.

Did all you gents who've received theirs used FedEx? I'm regretting going cheap now. :(
Erik I was always under the impression that FedEx is faster than German post. I haven't received mine as yet but it is 'on the van'. From memory (last group buys) German post took around a week longer.

It's true. Don't waste those tips!

Thanks for the advice Dipesh, I'm aware that you a brush affivionado, so do you consider that bowl lathering is harmful in some way?
I'm no expert but probably depends on the finish of the bowl? I have a couple where the finish is quite rough and although I appreciate stubble isn't smooth, I prefer not to use my high end brushes with these bowls. Secondly I with a few handles knocking them against this material would probably scratch them. Probably being over cautious. Then again when the brush feels so good I want it against my face more than a bowl.

Erik,

I went for FedEx tracked, Eur 8.50
48hrs service was Eur 20.

Bernd shipped them Friday am, and my FedEx box is arriving Wednesday.
With the 48hrs service I assume it would have been here Monday, till 6pm perhaps.

Couple of days (at most though) won't make much of a difference, I would say.
