Thank youVery nice Avnish.
Thank youVery nice Avnish.
The standard fan I have used once. But I have to be honest, Bernd probably out of kindness added more density to mine. It certainly feels more like a Unique knot as opposed to a standard. It has strong backbone, stronger than my other fans set as a standard 2 band. No scratch or scritch. No gel tips either. I think it is down to the different badger hair used. This group buy has brilliant white, previous are a dull yellow and crispy. My Standard Silvertip 2B 26 x 50 with 3 shaves and 4 palm lather
Still it has some scritch but it’s been softer with each use. Maybe there are some black hairs behind the knot but I still am not going to remove to see if they are softened
Very good backbone, vey good flow and tons of very good lather easily

@Nishy and other with this brush tipe, I'm waiting your Standard Fan feeling

Other standard 2 bands I have are gel tipped and extremely soft with moderate backbone.
When we do the next group buy I'm going to ask Bernd if he can do two knot types. One with gel tips similar to previous GB and one with more backbone and scrub as is this knot (no scritch). Both are beautiful performers.
Brilliant! Funny my knee jerk reaction would of been to go gel tipped, no question. I'm enjoying the current Unique knot so much as to give serous consideration as to getting another one. Though I'm also thinking that a gel tipped, if available, would be a different beast set at a lower loft. I would think a gel tipped Fan, what can I say I like Fans, set at 48-50 would be the crack. So of course the only solution would be to get both . Cheers! When we do the next group buy I'm going to ask Bernd if he can do two knot types. It is really interesting that a difference of 4mm in loft, can seriously influence the characteristics of a brush. Glad your enjoying the current brush. I would like to see more attention to the knot , no inverted hairs. I personally have none but I do have taller profiled hairs (white tips) protruding outside the halo.Brilliant! My 2-band fan also feels as it has more backbone than my other 2-bands. Only three shaves in yet, so time will tell. The standard fan I have used once. $36 customs tax, wow! I guess single payer healthcare is not really free.Well, as I posted earlier, my brush landed in Canada on 11 October and I'd not heard hide nor hair since. This morning Canada Post dropped off a delivery notice informing me that Canada Customs has levied Can.$36.06 of taxes and fees on the brush; however, to add insult to injury I cannot pay or pick up the brush until tomorrow afternoon!![]()

I can't say that it came out of the blue. It's very much hit or miss with Canada Customs when it comes to small items. I've 4 other shavemac brushes and I was fortunate to have only had to pay unto Caesar in one case and it's been the same for brushes I've bought directly from Simpson and vendors in the USA, Ireland, Portugal and Spain. I find if an item is sent by first class airmail it tends not to attract the attention of Canada Customs, but if it's sent by courier or priority post, etc. It'll be picked off every time just about. I will not ask a vendor to low ball the value on the customs declaration to avoid paying taxes and duties and I'm quite prepared to take my chances.$36 customs tax, wow! Sorry to hear, especially if you are not expecting it. All will be forgiven once you have it in hand.
Picked up the brush this afternoon and I'm very chuffed with it: unique fan-shaped knot, 400-style handle in faux horn. I've washed it 3 times with Leonhardy brush soap and it's ready to go for tomorrow's shave. Thank you Nishy for taking the initiative to organise the group buy and thank you Bernd for turning out a superior brush.Well, as I posted earlier, my brush landed in Canada on 11 October and I'd not heard hide nor hair since. First use this morning and all I can say is that it is amazingly soft with good backbone, but not excessive. Thanks again Nishy and Bernd.Picked up the brush this afternoon and I'm very chuffed with it: unique fan-shaped knot, 400-style handle in faux horn.
