Thanks for the positive response Gents, had some feedback from Bernd, my wild idea was shutdown :) fear not I have another (more elegant) option accepted. I just need to finalise sketches with Bernd.

Were also now putting together a few sketches from the mods to send to Bernd and then finalise. This is of course will take time, I post here when I have any more info. I'll keep the sketches to post up with the final product if that isn't an issue.

Oh my God I have been waiting for a group buy for ages but unfortunately I'm brushed up to the eyeballs. I will watch this with interest and see what you all choose when they come pouring in. Well done Nishy.

Cheers Wayne just spent the evening sketching with the Mrs it seems to have calmed her down. At one point she was within 1 metre of two of my brushes; fixated upon them, drawing frantically, without blinking and not a negative word was said about the two Shavemacs. It's a miracle. I'm going to buy 10 more brushes a pencil and a sketch pad tomorrow :)

@Nishy Are you going to tell us what was so wild that it got rejected??? Were you after unicorn horn handles again???
Lol not quite Matt but close. It was a chequered design, back and ivory but in a weave or crosshatch pattern. The brush would not be flush but instead have an interwoven design so heightened and lowered components.

Very wild indeed.

You ever thought of mixing bundles of D01 hair into a 2-band silvertip knot?

ohhhh nice!!!! :) Shame he can't do it.

What I've always fancied was a density between normal and D01.... I generally prefer more back bone than the normal 2 band, and D01 takes your face off! Lol. Whether that is possible in this group buy aside, do you know if this is possible????? I could always ask Berndt, but I'm lazy.... Lol.

I have asked Bernd about a mid density brush between a 2 band silvertip and D01 2 band. The response I received was along the lines of reduce loft of a standard 2 band or increase loft with the D01 for backbone adjustment. In other words a nice way of saying no. But I will ask again.

Well you can't make what can't be made, Badgers are Badgers after all and I've never understood nor believed this fabled Best batch of hair for years nonsense. Unless the Chinese have discovered a health spa where Badgers hang around having treatments all day and deep conditioning of their hides! Seeing as the majority live in 1m x 1m cages I don't see this being a realistic scenario.

We had a funny video call the other week, including badger parts and classification of hair. I definitely appreciate the difference between silvertip and best when it comes to face feel. With Simpsons I found some of the 'best badger' to be better than their silvertip (2010). But I bet they both get their badger hair batches from the same or very similar supplier.

I know where your coming from, but I've definitely seen such differences in several brush manufacturers, including shavemac 2 bands. My 2015 TSR brushes were more curly tipped and softer than any other year of LE that I've bought (most of them). I'm not saying they are "better" but definitely different and if curly tips are your thing, then I guess they would be preferable.

I've also got a 2012 Simpson's Manchurian which is a TOTALLY different beast to the newer ones. All my Romera knots are very different too, from super curled tipped, to zero curled tips.

To be fair as with most things in life some people will always suggest theirs is the "best", maybe for the prestige, and often to just keep the resale value high, but batches of hair definitely change characteristics from what I've seen.

I bet there is a market for "Best Wagyu Badger" brushes (they drink beer and get a daily massage, the hairs are removed by Nicky Clarke) :)
