Shave stick recommendations

DR Harris are very good and the containers look ideal but both sticks I've had the containers refused to retract the stick so I could put the lid back on, otherwise they'd be perfect. I now use Valobra or Mystic Waters.
I had this problem with my Harris Lavender stick. I fiddled with it, mainly twisting the knob while simultaneously pressing on the soap itself, and finally it retracted the stick. It now extends and retracts the stick when I use it. This very disappointing given what one of these sticks costs.

D R Harris, same excellent stuff as in the bowls and available in a range of flavours. Tabac if you can stand the smell. Palmolive is stellar for the price but the best I can say about the scent is that it's inoffensive.

In terms of retracting the Harris stick, if you press the soap down while turning the knob it retracts quite happily.

Another shave stick that has not been mentioned is Vergulde Hand. I found it works very well and comes in what I would call an art deco style container.

I see DR Harris gets a lot of praise but I just don't get on with the puck I have. I can't produce a really satisfying lather from it like I can get with Arko or Palmolive. I said I because I am sure it is me not the soap.

Gentlemen. Thank you for all the input. I have gone for the D.R Harris Arlington stick and I hope it is great as I can buy a lifetime of Palmolive sticks for the price of the Harris stick. I doubt it will be better but it will probably smell a little better and still last me 10yrs as I will only use it for holiday use. :)

Question for anyone who may know, especially for our Spanish origin members:

Is the Potassium Stearate shown here in the ingedients, from animal or veggie source?

Hi @N_Architect
I can not say for sure but I have always thought that the current La Toja is a vegetable soap.

Many years ago it was a soap with tallow and it was a very good soap, but Henkel bought the brand, closed the factory, took the production far and changed the formulation. I suppose it is the price of globalization and in my opinion now soap is not worth much
