Preshave:
Hot water rinse
Razor: British Gillette Rocket HD 1953/54
Blade: Gillette Nacet (3)
Brush: Golddachs Pure Badger miniature
Soap/Cream: TOBS Sandalwood
Aftershave Balm: Fuzzy Duck Cedarwood & Wild Sage
Aftershave: TOBS Sandalwood AS

Today's shave marked a sensible reduction in blade effectiveness, not unusual in my experience, yet the combo still delivered a near BBS result, 8.5/10.

Have a good, safe week.

Regards,
Chris

Carbon CX 316 ++ base plate (via pass around)
Polsilver
AP Shave Co SynBad
Eufros Barakah Oud (sample)
Myrsol Emulsion
Soundtrack - Rolling Blackouts C.F. 'Sideways to New Italy'

The Eufros Barakah Oud sample was kindly gifted to me (along with a number of other samples) from @p.b thank you Paul you're a Gent!

This is the first time using Manuel's new base. The performance was very good (compared to any other soap maker) but I'm not sure I prefer it to the old base? The post shave didn't feel as soft and the residual slickness wasn't as good.
This is only the first use so maybe I need to add more water?
The scent was great, not overpowering but present throughout the shave.

This is the second time using the Carbon CX with the ++ base plate. I'm not sure what to make of it TBH.
I like the positive blade feel and I would say it's the smoothest of the three base plates but I think it's the least efficient.

I will need more time with all plates but the original 0.68 plate seems the most efficient and gives the longest lasting shave.

Take care folks.
Cheers

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: DR Harris H3 Best Badger
Cream: Castle Forbes Cedarwood and Sandalwood
Razor: Merkur Mergress (2.5)
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Spoiler (10)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Penhaligon's Bayolea Aftershave Splash
Scent: Creed Royal Oud

First shave with a Castle Forbes Cream. Impressive performance. The scent is a very natural and woody cedar, which dominates the sandalwood.
This particular Spoiler blade has served me well, but time for a graceful retirement.

A caliginous, noisy day: I'm trying out a new housekeeper and she wanted to vacuum the studio while I was there!

I was going to use the Panama, but then I saw this long-forgotten Labelle.
It loads easily and lathers quickly: good glide and protection, but the scent is obviously, after these years, much faded.
It seems that they are out of production...

I had planned to use the Polsilver, but it was exhausted and I replaced it with a SOC.
I'm exhausted too, but I can't replace myself: I'm my own backup....

Monday's Shave

Pre: Argan Oil Soap
Soap: Laugar Skogsrå
Brush: 28mm Shavemac 2Bed Synthetic
Razor: Revisor 6/8
Splash: Speick Activ
Balm: Bart's Unscented
EDT: Fragrance Ireland Patrick

A satisfying shave as this particular razor is a problem child , it has a warp in it , but with some coaching from a good friend who knows his hones , I tackled it yesterday and have managed to get a very nice shaving edge on it. I am still a relative begineer at honing so pleased to be able to get a good result.
