Can anyone recommend a good sandalwood soap or cream which actually smells of natural sandalwood?
The sandalwood scent appears to differ widely depending on what you buy.

I've had the ToBS soap, the T&H cream, the Proraso Red soap and the Mysore hand soap. All are called Sandalwood and all smell different. The Mysore is probably the truest sandalwood scent - but I wouldn't shave with it. That said it is so powerful, if you washed with it pre or post after a neutral scented shave, you'd be grand.:)

Thanks @Redd I have the Mysore Indian sandalwood bath soap and it's very good. Strong, natural and pungent but as you correctly state I wouldn't shave with it. :)

DR Harris Sandalwood Soap. Phenomenol performance but I'm personally not fond of Sandalwood, hence why I'll be putting a once used puck up on BST shortly.

The Art of Shaving Sandalwood shaving soap, tallow.
Best in scent and performance, albeit now discontinued.
Fine santal absolute soap and aftershave is supposed to be based on the art of shaving sandalwood scent, having never smelt the original I have no idea if that is true but I enjoy the scent.

Semogue Sandalwood soap, not a true sandalwood scent, sort of a sweet candy like scent, gives a nice shave too.

* Art of Shaving Sandalwood (you can still find them on ebay, by the way)
* Mystic Water Sandalwood, Vanilla Sandalwood, & Sandalwood Rose

Haslinger Sandalwood is nice. I find Haslinger a little pasty, it needs lots of H2O to make it slick. The Wickhams Super Smooth Sandalwood is nice too. Not sure if that is still available nowadays though.

If memory serves me right, OSP has one that actually smells of real sandalwood.

Another option, already mentioned, is Fine Absolute Santal, which is based on the AOS one.
