Aw, Nishy. Take time to grieve. How horrible to lose a friend, a life you saved and made better.

Rest well, Cassie ... you'll need all your strength to run with my Porthos.

Sorry to hear of your loss, and I can empathize with you. This past 30th of May I reluctantly took my companion, Rambunctious, to the vet and the verdict was thumbs down. He was a stray and probably 2 or 3 years old when he came to me. I can only be thankful for the eleven good years we both had together.

Some would think it silly... ridiculous even... to express grief over the loss of a pet. You probably won't be too surprised to know I don't rank amongst them.

Believe me when I say I feel I feel the loss of a pet, or indeed, the death of all sorts of creatures, more than is probably good for me. A rescued rabbit (literally rescued from under a hedge having been discarded in a car-park) caused us both disproportionate sadness a couple of months ago when she died in my arms.... so I am very much aware of the unhappiness the loss of your moggie will be causing at the moment. I shed buckets and buckets when our cat died a good few years ago (another rescue .. this one turned up at my Fire Station and attached himself to me). But, of course, the sadness eases, as it does when we lose parents and relatives etc. The ability to feel fondness and to care for creatures says something about you .. and all those others who genuinely love and cherish their animals and, in my opinion, it makes you a better man.

Sorry to hear this, Avnish.
After 11 years with our rescue cat, I fear the day...
Who else will wake me up with the cutest purr... at five in morning... by standing on my larynx with her front paws... demanding food?
I didn't know I was a cat person until she showed up...

I’m so sorry for your loss Avnish. You must be heartbroken.

Very touching to read the previously posts. I was never an animal lover growing up. I’m sure it didn’t help we never had any pets growing up, well apart from a Goldfish called Johnuntil he went to the great u-bend in the sky. I was always very nervous of any animals, especially dogs.

My Sister got a dog five years ago and at first I was nervous of her (the dog not my Sister:p:) but after a very short while I formed a bound I’ve never felt before. She's become an integral part of our family. I finally got what people were on about.

My heart goes out to anyone who loses a pet.

Take care.

Cheers
Rob
