There are also what some sellers advertise as portable bidets, which are basically squeeze bottles with a long-ish neck. There are also some which you can just stick into common plastic beverage bottles.

I've been using one called HappyPo XL (was ~£19 when I bought mine) for a few years now, started when toilet paper became scarce due to panic buying during lockdown.
I have one of the "necks" that can be inserted into common beverage bottles as well, and I use them when travelling.

They save on toilet paper and can preserve your dignity and comfort when travelling and facilities aren't up to snuff.

I've never used a bidet. Doesn't using one leave your privates wet necessitating the need for drying paper?

It can, but then you can wait a little until it drips off or use a little bit of toilet paper get rid of the moisture.
Even with toilet paper used, I find it's generally less than I'd have used otherwise.

I mean, I would seriously consider a hand held device. I know this is too much information, but I clean the privates in the shower.

At boarding school we had to use single sheet bog paper which was shiny on one side and scratchy on the other. I don’t know the brand, but it was so impermeable that it probably could have been rinsed off and used again.

For some reason bidets never caught on in the UK and seem to be regarded with suspicion, as though having a cleaner bottom is something to be ashamed of. Having been on holiday to parts of Europe where they're commonplace I missed them when I came home.

I have however found a product called Wype, it's a gel that you put onto toilet paper that makes it into an effective wet wipe. Flushing wet wipes is a bad thing, so this stuff which gives you the benefit of a wet wipe without clogging the drains is brilliant.

I was working out in Indonesia for over a year & you just didn’t get toilet paper anywhere.
My work took 3 months to actually get some on site
it’s all Bidet with a soaking wet floor.
The worst thing was going for a number 2 as you had to take your overalls off first or they are getting soaked on the floor. If you had a dodgy stomach it was torture getting the overalls off in time.
i had a few near misses lol.

I've seen those in Egypt too, without the benefit of experience in using one it was nerve-wracking.
