Razors from the USA

I have a holiday soon to the US and was maybe looking to get a DE razor when away, something a bit unique and one that Maggard's maybe don't stock, so I welcome any suggestions to see what is available or any personnel recommendations for or stay away from.

If you’re thinking premium ones and the point is to make use of the occasion to avoid a claim from RM/HMRC, what about Blackbird or Sabre (blacklandrazors.com) — or maybe even the new model Dart will be released by the time you’re there — or the Karve/Christoper Bradley (karveshaving.com). Both are readily available, unlike eg Wolfman (never know), Charcoal (waiting list), Paradigm (no direct sales, small production).

Other options, have a look at razoremporium.com for the Rex Adjustable, classicshaving.com for a Cobra, bullgooseshaving.com might have some.

Timeless is an option, although also available at Maggards.

Rockwell or Colonial/General are also US based, lower priced options.

I was searching last night and found the Rex Adjustable, I liked the look of it and it reminded me of a modern take on the Gibbs No17, I will look into the Sabre and the Dart, thnaks Halvor

A US forum has a Group Buy on the Rex Adjustable for $181. Order date deadline in May 17 and I would assume shipping by June 1.
Several US brush artisians (Paladin, Brad Sears, Elite Razor) now have some brushes in inventory.

Perhaps your choice of lodging or shaving vendor could adjust shipping or hold the item unitl arrival.

If yo are looking for a premium US razor that is constantly stocked, Blackland would be a good bet. He also has a storefront if you will be going to San Francisco. ATT is another quality one, and definitely the REX if you're into adjustables.

That is a good deal especially if you sneak under customs...

Karve. Tops in my den. Just pick a couple of plates. Have it mailed from Edmonton to your US location.

Im leaning towards the Blackland Blackbird, I have a Rocca which I find superb and was wondering if anyone has a Rocca and a Blackbird to offer a comparison between them.

The Blackbird has a lot of blade feel, coupled with the heavier weight make it seem much more aggressive, but it isn't. I find the Blackbird more efficient, but the Rocca is a 'smoother' shaver.

I think i have it down to the Blackbird or the Rex, two different type of razor and both superb looking and build which is making it a hard choice.
