I reckon the majority of those who don't like seeing the Union Jack probably share similar political views... If they have any at all and aren't just NPC's.

A flag not political? How do you figure that one out?
I mean green as a symbolic colour, not the green party as such. Green plus an original design of some kind. Open to ideas there. As a matter of fact there are quite a few flags with designs drawn from nature. Moons, suns and stars are common too.
I'd go for an oak tree, for instance.

Now you mention it, I always liked the Bridgend flag, where I come from, and its motto 'A VO PENN BIT PONT' - He who will be chief, let him be a bridge. I'm happy to relate to both the flag and the motto.

Isn't that a break down service like the RAC or AA ?Certainly very interesting... Citizens are either born in a country OR choose to live there. So surely they must have some feelings for the national flag?

I don't have a problem with the Union Jack. It's not something I would choose to wear on clothing, or necessarily want to have on any branded items I own, due to the way in which it has become a symbol that has been hijacked by the far right.
It still surprises me, though, how many people display it upside down, don't realise that they are doing so, and understand the meaning that this conveys.

I will show the flag leading up to Canada day and a bit past. It then comes down because I know who I am and where I live. Constant overt displays of a national flag coupled with the unbridled patriotism that seems to indicate sicken me. That is too much like Germany under Hitler and breeds a certain deadly superior attitude.
I am proud of my country and for the most part appreciate living here but would never tell anyone it was the best country. There is plenty of room for improvements.
Enjoy your flags but try not to get too carried away in the process.

I'm an Albertan. I'm proud of the Alberta Provincial flag. I am ambivalent to the Canada flag.
