At least in England where I grew up a lot of the focus is on the Monarch as oppose to the Flag. America is a Republic which fought for it's independence so the flag I guess has a significance to that as it evolved from the flag that represented the fight for liberty so I can see it is a strong symbol.

The UK is a completely different thing , the flag is the flag of a union that arguably 3 of the 4 nations never wanted to be in, and for many around the world the English and Union flags are a sign of oppression and tyranny.

Guess thats why it is different to be draped in a Scottish or Welsh Flag.

Flags mean different things to different people, the nation's history has its ups and downs and I can understand that after we ruled the world at sword-point for 300 years that some might not view it fondly.

You are correct, I've never even heard of "Discworld", they should make it a TV series.

Flat earthers are unusual, hopefully at least some of them know better and participate just for fun.
