This is why every newly-retired man grows a beard. It is only after the novelty has worn off that he sees how it looks: homeless, disreputable drug addict drinking Mad Dog or a 40 out of a paper bag. And we all look the same! It is when we no longer have to shave that the sheer pleasure over-comes us.

Been retired 6 or so years and never had a thought to grow a beard. You are right though, now that I have the time for a luxurious shave I enjoy it more.

This is how I looked for years prior to rediscovering wet shaving, double edge razors, brushes, et al. I'm sure others looked similarly:

I've never seen anyone look so much like their Avatar - congratulations.

My only venture into a beard was the Bee Gees era - it was decent enough but I missed the enjoyment of shaving for shaving's sake.

I used to have a sort of beard but after a week it began to itch so off it went. I did keep a moustache for a while because the GF liked it. I was going to show a pic but you lot are too cruel with the jokes. Bloody funny though especially this quip from @halvor
