Hi all, after some info: I have a large refund from a vendor (not shaving) pending in PayPal since Thursday. Does anyone know how long it sits at pending? Cheers, Paul

It can take about a week.

Always pisses me off that it leave my account instantly but takes forever for a refund to clear.

Speaking of PayPal.

I haven't sold anything on eBay for a few years and closed my PayPal account.

Is PayPal the preferred method for buyers and sellers?

Also, I have heard that eBay report buyers to HMRC who have sold quite a lot, HMRC then write to you on suspicion that you are a business and charge you tax in advance for the next financial year, the figure I have heard is if you sell £5000+ and you could incur a tax liability of the same amount.

Is this a load of rubbish according to your experience?
.
Eta. I should have googled this question first.

The rules changed from 1.1.24

All the selling platforms are obliged to report sales data to HMRC, I suspect that you may be treated as a business if you sell more than 30 items/£1700 per annum which were the old trigger points for advance tax liability.

The new rule by HMRC could be for traders who don't declare earnings and thieves moving on stolen goods.
I rarely sell £1,000 worth or make 30 sales in a month as I doubt most people don't.
