I think the "How to use the Oneblade" video by Steve The Daily Shaver is the way to go. Now I can't shave as fast as he does (Not many can) but applying a bit of pressure with longer strokes and I've gotten BBS with 2 passes on 4/5 shaves with zero irritation. I am super impressed so far. Hopefully the blade defect issue is rare. I was very very careful loading my blade (Gently pushed either side bit by bit and it clicked into place) and wet it as per the instruction book. I think if you tried to force the issue it would be easy to blow past the blade stops.

Except... The OneBlade is supposed to have "slop". It was designed that way, and is part of the patent pending design.

From the OneBlade website:

The main finding from our latest round of R & D was that by changing our blade latching system from our original design whereby the blade, once latched into place, was restricted from moving in any direction relative to the razor — to a completely opposite design approach whereby the blade, once latched, is still able to move in all three dimensions (side to side, up and down, back and forth)— could equate to an overall improved shaving experience.

Achieving this motion allowance meant that we had to figure out how to not only allow the blade to float in all three dimensions but to simultaneously ensure that the relationship between the critical measures of blade angle, blade exposure, and blade gap were consistently maintained (in harmony) throughout the shaving experience.

Ultimately we were successful in our goal by slightly expanding the blade insertion area and by adding a longitudinal pivot point approximately half way back from the cutting edge of the blade which allows the blade edge to rock up and down during the shaving process.

This innovation is the creation of our patent-pending “Active Floating Blade Approach System” (AFBAS).

Through user-testing, we found that AFBAS affected a significant increase in the comfort and the effectiveness of the shaving experience with our OneBlade Razor, including a significant improvement in the ‘Forgiveness’ aspect of our razor. So, in addition to the extraordinary ‘Forgiveness’ that comes from the pivoting head design of our razor, our AFBAS innovation gives us substantially increased ability to overcome many of the typical user errors as well as deal with the extreme differences in skin topography and skin types of our users. We know that the comfort level experienced during shaving along with being able to avoid nicks or cuts are key drivers in overall customer satisfaction.

In essence, we have increased the mildness of our razor while increasing the efficiency and closeness of the shave - no other single edge or double edge razor can make this claim.

You are spot on! It worked for me, I tend not to watch shaving videos but this one really helped. really pleased now I know how to get the best out of it.

It's... alive!
Mine arrived today, just in time for a shave.
First impressions: I need more time with it. :-P :-D
The shave was actually good. Not great or overly pleasant, since I had been experimenting with the technique a fair bit, but in the end, I got a pretty decent shave in two passes. My face feels a little scraped, but I went gung-ho on the pivot at first. So far, it seems I actually got best results when using a technique similar to the one I use with my DEs, other SEs and shavettes/straight, i. e. short, slightly buffed strokes, although in case of the Core, with a bit of pressure to engage the pivot and a sort of scooping motion, which I tend to use with some other very mild razor heads, too. The face feels like it's part BBS, part CCS. Need to experiment more with it.
Mine came with two very obvious imperfections at the back of the head, but as it won't affect the shave, I don't care too much.

Still, I have to say to praise of packaging, appearances and quality seem a bit over the top.
The packaging looks nice, but so did the one the QShave Futur clone came in.
The stand is really a bent piece of aluminum. Not bad, but I'm not sure it's going to make for a very good stand. It's just not very sturdy and a bit too light.
Other than the two blemishes on the head, the razor looks good and, more importantly, seems to work pretty well.

Shave ease and quality seems comparable to the Baili TTO I have, but I'm satisfied with the purchase so far.

Anyone in the UK who is not liking the OneBlade Core interested in a swap for a brand new Rockwell 2C and 100 Rockwell DE blades? All sealed never used. (Caveat that the core you own has none of the blade loading issues seen) i've posted in BST

Steve is a wealth of information, he showed me how to use the Genesis to the best advantage, BTW no one I know shaves as fast as he does and he never seems to get bitten. In the beginning I thought he edited the cuts out, but he seems genuinely well trained not to cut himself.
If I tried to shave as fast as he does, I would need plastic surgery and the rest.

The FHS-10 sure seems to get dull quickly. At least stropping it a little while it's in the Core seems to help a little.

I believe I paid something in the region of £17. Which was about right once I had calculated it.

Haven't used it yet. A bit gutted to hear the reviews so far, but I'm hoping I'll get a long with it.
