At least we have both picked good sharp blades. I've heard people doing similar challenges with Derby, Cloud and other blade blasphemies. You can palm / arm / towel strop. If I feel it start to pull I think I'll try @AuldNewbie 's 'pint glass hone' . I'll be drying my blade and putting it in a 'cafe creme' tin with some silica packets. Not that I'm, like, that in to thisLord Fatboy.

.I use a blade once and then toss it. The only time I've not been one-n-done is when I've run low (abroad) or I've done a challenge like this (tho' never for this stupid, dangerous length of time). My 'daily' blade is the Treet Black Beauty, which is carbon steel. You're lucky to get two shaves out of them. I had planned on using the vintage Wilkinson blades, but felt that would be cheating, 'cos the older blades do seem to last longer, and get smoother pass by pass. The 'record', as I've seen on another forum for the vintage Wilkinsons was 78 shaves. Seventy Eight..?!?
I've only been using straights for a while now, so I'm stoked to have an excuse for DE.
The razors I'll use for this challenge: Schick Krona (Patent Pending model), Parker 26c, Fine Slant, Lord Fatboy (Lord L6 with fat 'bazooka' handle), Gillette Slim Twist and Gillette Slim Adjustable. I'll aim for five shaves per razor - But the same single blade for each one tho'.

I'm still using the vintage Wilkinson Sword I started in early January, when it eventually goes blunt I'll join you with a new one during February. Mostly to check if this blade is a fluke or not.

Hurrah ! I recently got (sealed) about 20 English Wilks, 5 older German ones (probably the same as those made now) and 5 (current?) Italian made ones.
I may change my mind and choose English Wilkinson for the challenge, partly because there is more incentive to make them last. Also, though there are other blades that I really like (7 O'clock Yellow, Treet BB, Voskhod) I do get misty eyed about Wilks. No other DE blade gives me that - as the French say - "I don't know what" feeling like Wilkinson do, old or new.
When I bought my first Gillette - a bakelite tech - the vendor included a pack of five 1970's Wilkinson. He got me to join B & B that same day, so that was the first act of kindness I experienced from a fellow wet shaver.
The new German made ones were the first blade I found that I really liked, and that were good in any razor. The cavalry blade on the oblong barber pack... I use Treet blades daily, and even after ages of this I still feel a bit like I'm cheating on Wilkinson (^_-) Ahem...

Started. I used vintage Gibbs soap so I might combine this challenge with Dipesh's single soap one too.

Seeing as you are "misty eyed" about the Wilks, Well I guess I will choose those English Wilks for you.
I know I shouldn't be this easy on you but you use a Vintage blade and I will us a modern blade.

I swapped out my blunt vintage Wilko for another Wilko blade, forgetting that it was a modern one, which I'd been trying in a Paa DOC to see if that would improve it. I very much doubt this particular blade will last much longer than 5 shaves but I'll stick with it until it goes off.

Unfortunately / fortunately / conveniently the German Wilko I was using died today, almost instantly so I had to replace it. I'm now using the vintage Wilkinson Sword I thought I'd be using, so although I've missed 2 days I now feel I'm back on track.

Since Friday I've been experimenting with a different razor each day. So far the results are that for me, with this vintage Wilkinson blade only a British flat bottom Tech comes close to the smoothness of the 6s. Ones to fail the test were: Standard, Schick and Super Adjustable - all good razors with the right blade though.

The vintage Wilkinson (60s) in the Schick Krona is usually great for me, but last night (3rd shave) it tugged something fearful.
