There are a couple of things that have raised their heads as EDC annoyances however. I like how neat the magnetic charging is, however I don't like that the magnet in the tail cap attaches itself to coins and keys, I dislike removing the entire contents of my pocket along with the torch. This leads neatly onto the next annoyance, the switch. The magnetic charging precludes a tailcap switch, originally I dismissed these as "tactical" frippery, however there are some advantages. The side switch is difficult to find by touch, in real life I don't need to switch my torch on in a nano-second however it does annoy me trying to find the damn thing. The other problem is that it's easy for the switch to be depressed in the pocket, a couple of times I've wondered why my pocket was getting warm and it turned out that it had switched on. The lockout function on the switch does not prevent this as it's deactivated by pressing it.
The solution therefore is to loosen the tailcap a quarter turn.
The result is that in order to activate the torch you need to:
- Remove from pocket.
- Detach coins / keys / sundry other objects and return these to pocket.
- Tighten tail cap.
- Find on button.
I still really like the torch, however for me it would be improved considerably by losing the magnet and charging the battery externally, and either putting the switch on the tail or making it twist to operate.
