I know this isn‘t wise to say on a UK forum, but the best whiskey I have tried is from Japan. Enjoy.

Actually this one isnt too bad....around the price of a bottle of standard Bushmills....and it is smooth. Check Amazon!

I've tried a couple of Japenese Whiskies..the blends are reasonably priced (Suntory have a few for around £30)
Ironically, the most expensive one I tried (Suntory Hibiki, harmony) wasn't to my taste at all. overall I prefer Scotch, though I have drunk way more Scotch and Irish than Japanese!
However, Nikka Taketsuru pure malt is on my Christmas list.
