Nivea sensitive skin shaving cream

Can't say I will try the Hemp Balm as I almost never use a balm after shaving to sooth irritations. I just tried this one to see if it left my face feeling greasy/oily after use like others have in the past. OTH, the Hemp Balm might come in handy should I get some sun or wind burn on the face. I'll keep it in mind should that happen.

Of course Bob, it's not greasy/oily, but if you use one full pump is impossible to be absorbed.

I recently bought a tube of Nivea Sensitive shaving cream and it is a really good product for the price- NZ$ 7 - at a local supermarket. It's direct competitor is Palmolive Original which performs about the same, but has a stronger, and to my mind, more appealing scent. If I'm feeling extravagant, I'd spend an extra $5 on a tube of Tabac when it goes on special.

As far as using the Nivea goes, you don't need much to get a lot of rich, slick lather, and it is easy to build the lather directly on my face with any of my boar and synthetic brushes. If you don't mind the scent though, Nivea may be a great option.

Tried out both today and I’m impressed. I’ll use both for the rest of the week and report back. Generally, I don’t have sensitive skin or react adversely to products I shave with. Last year, however, I used some Goodfellas aftershave, that had near cologne strength fragrance and it gave me a severe rash which took several weeks to heal.

Three days into using it and I remain impressed. The cream produces a rich, slick lather that results in a very comfortable shave. The biggest surprise is the balm. I’ve avoid balms for years because they left my skin feeling oily or greasy and really didn’t sooth my skin at all; in a few cases a balm left my face feeling itchy. The Nivea Sensitive Aftershave balm, however, does quite the opposite with the only caveat being not to use too much, an easily solvable problem.

I have a quick question about the scent of this Nivea shave cream. I remember the scent of the old long gone Noxzema shave cream and think I smell the same scent but weaker in the Nivea. Does anyone who has used the old Noxzema get the same scent in the Nivea stuff?

Similar but NOT identical, at least to my (big) nose.

The Noxzema stuff smells more medicinal.

Likewise, it did the same for me. Felt like essence of stinging nettles

Another balm that was impressed with, was the Sensitive Recovery. Has a strange green-ish colour, no sting and restores the skin a few minutes after application.

Could be even better than the Hemp one.

Rufus, check the Sensitive Recovery Balm too, "Microcuts" Edition. Superb stuff, didn't see that coming.
