New SE razor in the works

I want one. Please tell whoever is making them to send me an invoice.

I like the screw bits on the top. They look like eyes, with the blade looking like a mouth. It looks like one of the old Smash Potato aliens from the adverts. I like it.

I think I may be a bit weird.

EDIT: apologies to anyone outside the uk. No idea if you ever had Smash Potato aliens......

Brian is producing 3D razors so he has the equipment. But this will probably be CNC machined if he decides to make them. I am in.
If he trims the head a bit I think this indeed could be a very interesting razor. I like the steampunky design quite a bit.

It's Charcoalgoods' prototype. Will be fun to follow along and see how/if it progresses.

That's a handsome razor and a well done rendering. Looking forward to seeing the physical product. I love his handles so I'm sure this will be awesome as well.

Got some more information from Brian at CharcoalGoods - and even directed him to this thread so maybe we can get him to join the fun here

"I'm still tweaking the design, but am getting closer to cutting metal. I need to draw up the machining fixtures next and order some material.

The head is inspired by the Feather SS Straight. If you look at the feather closely it doesn't have a true hollow grind, but rather a wave. For my design I put a similar wave in the top cap and then cut back the baseplate so there is effectively infinite blade exposure. I put the injector port on the side so you can slide Feather AC blades in, but you could also remove the top cap and manually load a blade if you choose.

That's the idea so far. My thinking was what if you could make a straight razor with a handle on it? I think it will be like a straight with training wheels.

With so many SE heads on the market now, I want to appeal to a different audience for mine. But, step one is make a prototype."

Brian is taking it to another level. And not like some ideas that become reality in a few years this will probably take several months. Remember Brian is a one man show. Very exciting.
