99.9% sure there is no such thing as a Diesel refinery.
Diesel does have to be refined to ULSD but that has been in place years. I started in 2013 it was in place then.

I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express...LOL!! What I am posting is, "why is diesel more expensive than gasoline".
I guess the answer is, "it just does".

That may be so now. What was the excuse some 40 odd years ago? Earlier than that in Germany.

The good old petrol pump attendant, back when they would check your oil, wash bottle and clean your screen. Then they found anyone can do that, or couldn’t be bothered and just wanted fuel. Also a business saving on minimum wage. It took a while but grocery stores realised anyone can do that too.

Here they were known as pump or gas (gasoline) jockeys. I did that while in school and after as a second job for cash.

A good friend of mine runs a fuel station, garage and shop. He was considering bringing that back a while ago. Only four pumps there but he suffers a few drive offs.

I had a house in Florida, a few stations in Fla made you pay at the kiosk before filling and the operator stopped the pump at the amount you had already paid for.
I fill up at Tesco and their Momentum 99 pump is credit card only, put your card in with your pin, fill up, when you put the hose back in the machine it prints a receipt, sometimes.
No risk of a drive off.

I stopped using pay at the pump and instead, pay inside. I use one business here most of the time. They take Apple Pay.
