DJ (Dirty Jerzey slang for new jersey) has had a 6 point driver license thing for moons now so ids, bills and other things are a norm to get a dl. DJ gives dls to anyone that lives in DJ and proves it...

I am definitely NOT a Taylor Ham person nor am I a Pork Roll person. I am a BACON person. Crispy preferred. That other stuff is no different than Spam.

Travelling up the A1 found that most ignored signs about hogging middle lane, and as for areas where one is advised to stay 2 Chevrons apart,obviously few understand what a Chevron is. I do make use of inner lane, as I find it more relaxing than getting mixed up the tailgating fraternity.

Someone in my office asked me about this, an experienced driver of 20years she had driven along the M1, a three lane motorway/highway, and stayed in the middle lane because she thought that was where she should be, lorries in lane 1, cars in lane 2 and fast cars in lane 3. She complained that many lorries sounded their horn at her. I had a good 30 minutes with her on lane discipline and the fact that lorries could not pass her on the left nor go into lane 3 and her 55mph was too slow for many, she took it on board but complained again a week later when she had travelled in lane 1 but had to travel at the same speed as the lorry in front of her because the volume of traffic was such that she couldn't safely pull into lane 2 to overtake.

Well one of my students said once he’s gran had “been done by the coppers” for doing 55 on the motorway. For sometime they had clocked her and she was done for due care and attention in not keeping up to speed, and holding others up.

Most people I know here in the US were told when they learned to drive that the right lane is meant for exiting and entering the highway. Left lane is for passing only and the middle lane is meant to be the cruising lane. That’s all well and good if drivers follow the flow of traffic. Here in Queens and Long Island, some people will get in the left lane and and drive at the speed limit or barely above and then just stay there. They don’t even seem to think about moving over, nor do they seem to realize that everyone is passing and then moving in front of them after they pass. Other folks will drive 45 mph in the middle lane when the speed limit is 55. These people gum up the traffic flow also. They don’t seem to give a rat’s ass that they’re disrupting the general flow of traffic. And don’t get me started on the people who weave in and out through all the cars just to pick up a few car lengths. Or the people who, when stuck in traffic, pull into the entrance lane simply to move up four car lengths. Then there are drivers who speed up just to not let others get in front of them. I could go on, but you see my point.

Driving is no longer fun.

Why would you move over if you're in the left lane doing the speed limit?
No one should be able to overtake you, cause you're doing the speed limit

I like my driving, but I also like to relax behind the wheel.

Given the choice of fighting the clowns behind the wheel I think I would go for the bus or the train.

This is exactly what I was taught. I grew up on Long Island but now live in NJ. My experience with other drivers is exactly as you've said. I can't stand it when a slow driver gets in the passing/left lane and won't move over. And they do this whether there is traffic or not. Which means so many people really have no idea how to drive.

Yes.. nothing but stress behind the wheel. I have friends who only take buses, trains, subways and uber cars if walking doesn’t get them to their destination. Sometimes I think they may be spot on!

I can understand that. Driving in London is terrible, the average speed of a car is 11mph, same as it was in 1907, parking is £40 a day and yet public transport is brilliant, cheap and plentiful, no driver light railway, buses and underground are all great. Where I live is an apartment block that has an underground car park and there are Rolls Royces that haven't moved since 2005, people bring their cars when they move in and leave them unused for years.

As you saying walking is good, take your time, stop for a coffee and enjoy it.

Just an observation, when you drive the speed limit or slower in the right lane you are always in front. When someone swerves past you and there is a stop sign or light, you are either behind them or right beside them when stopped.

Yea, same problems the world over wrt vehicle drivers. The older I get and with the ever-increasing number of vehicles it seems like Russian Roulette on the roads.

Use to love driving but apart from taking the Porsche on a run I barely drive. Too many idiots on the roads who have no idea of the rules of the road. Not sure if it’s me but people seem to ease away from the Porsche. I do get a lot people waving or thumbs up in appreciation. To a fun drive.
