I always tip unless I have an issue, such as with this order. However, I was asked to tip BEFORE my meal was completed. I was glad to see that while I was happy to pay for my coffee, which I did, the rest of the meal, including the entire tip, was removed by the establishment when they processed my refund. And because I worked in restaurants for so long I tend to tip generously regardless of where the place is. I understand how difficult that job can be at times. I'm actually pretty forgiving but the situation I described showed that the chef was just a piece of garbage for trying to sell me TWO DIFFERENT omelettes, neither of which was what I ordered. The server was essentially brain dead. As a waiter or busboy asked to bring food out, I always made sure that what I was bringing out was what the order receipt said it was supposed to be. If I was the server and the chef asked me to serve something I knew was not right, I'd tell the chef to either give me the correct order or serve it him/herself. The server in this situation chose not use his brain at all. I have a problem with that as should anyone.
