Perhaps it's to help you with your shaving supplies hauls? My 23 year old grandson just informed me that he has bought a secondhand Ford F150 pickup truck. Why I don’t know, but he is gainfully employed, so it’s his money.

The loans are not "forgiven", the debt is simply transferred to the taxpayers.I was glad to hear there was an effort to forgive some student loans.
Points made and taken, Bob. Agreed, NAFTA wasn’t the panacea they said it would be. Re: the gutted middle class, and an unstable society, if you don’t mind a bit of free associating, you got me thinking about a bleak futuristicky sci-fi landscape. Fahrenheit 451, Soylent Green and then Sleeper came to mind. The first two are classic films of the genre. Sleeper is mostly just sillyI got comfortably through my life with a grade 9 education and 1 year at a community college which is not university here in Canada. You can't do that anymore as you literally need a BA to be a Wally World greeter or so it seems. Higher education has been turned into a high profit production line business and has cranked out so many people that it has diluted the value of having a university degree while hugely increasing the cost of getting one.
I recall when free trade with the US was being talked about and eventually came to be. Many argued that free trade would gut our manufacturing jobs here in Ontario but were told there would be plenty of service industry jobs created to take their place. You try telling anyone that today with 50 years of hindsight and they would think your brains were on fire for evening suggesting that. Things got even worse when Mexico signed on and then free trade went global after that. Here we are today with a gutted middle class and a huge number of unhappy campers. What will happen next is anyone's guess other than an unstable society.
Bob

They know everything, just ask them.I honestly don't know how encouragement toward our younger family members went out of style. If there is anyone we need to praise and let know we have their back, it is our young family and friends.
Damn right, we work, they ride for free. Commie bastages! The loans are not "forgiven", the debt is simply transferred to the taxpayers.
Definitely not an unexpected comment. Have you ever considered that it is a virulent form of capitalism that brought global free trade and the situation we are now in? All the more laughable as it was a communist country, China, that used it to put us there.Damn right, we work, they ride for free. Commie bastages!![]()
Consider me baffled. I have a working knowledge of political theory but I fail to see a connection to any form of communism in the actions described.Damn right, we work, they ride for free. Commie bastages!![]()
I am baffled you are baffled!Consider me baffled. I have a working knowledge of political theory but I fail to see a connection to any form of communism in the actions described.

Be careful, that could be considered contagious, then we will have a pandemic!!!I am baffled you are baffled!![]()
To me, it is the propensity of a large number of Americans to conflate any sort of socialism to be communism. For example, you are not a communist nor live in a communist country if you happen to live in a democracy that has universal health care.I am baffled you are baffled!![]()
