Last dance things that I went to see were a dance group called Stomp, imagine tap dancing in giant boots with the sole (geddit?) purpose of making a rhythmic noise. it was entertaining, The other dance thing was Northern Ballet Co doing a piece based on the paintings of LS Lowry, huge mistake, not keen on either ballet or Lowry. Longest 90 minutes of my life.

I suspect that, perhaps, authors of musicals and operas had a distaste for rap... which is probably what you'd get when reciting lines with orchestral music in the background.
I don't have any issues with musicals, as to me, the singing there is a means of acting where singing serves as a more expressive way of conveying emotions.
Opera takes this further, though sometimes a little too far for me, even though I have great appreciation for the singers' skills.

I have only had the opportunity to see two professional live musical productions. One was The Phantom of the Opera which I really enjoyed, and the other was Les Miserables which I could not wait for it to be over. I also enjoyed the musical movies The Lion King and Mamma Mia. Usually, musicals are not my bag though.

The updated version of West Side Story is fantastic. Brilliant dancing, some great songs and based on a theme that’s still relevant today even though it’s 500 years old.

I would doubt that there are many, if any, that would agree with you.
Paper Planes posts on model railways are interesting and show skills that many of us envy, they are appreciated by most of us.

Road closed = what seemed like an endless diversion into dead-end road. Sent myself, four vehicles in front and two behind, to the end to try a manoeuvrer around each other. I checked the map to see if the sign may have been moved by kids. But both roads right and left of the closed road led to dead-ended roads.
Someone was getting laughs out of this, and it wasn't me! Grrrr! (Shakes clenched fist in the air)

When I was in college decades ago I played in the house band of a small dinner theater in Buffalo for about a year. Interestingly I have never really enjoyed Broadway musicals. As a result I have not seen many. I can count them on one hand. Rent. Hair. Stomp. Mama Mia. And although this doesn’t count, I’m including Blue Man Group. Of these 5 shows, I liked two. Hair. Because Bernard Purdie was on drums. Blue Man Group. Great drums in that show. The rest just didn’t do anything for me.
