New Mulcuto

Feels strange to me having a design like this as I continually rotate through the shave (not while drawing it across my face LOL).
Makes me feel this design would be first pass OC, second and third and possibly buff SB.
Then I feel like I would have to rotate the blade for the next shave.

Please note, I am stating my feelings from absolutely no position of knowledge or authority and have yet to even behold an OC in the flesh.

That is exactly what some do, and what I did for the first pass and half of the second... In practice there is absolutely no difference between the two sides in feel or performance (on 1-2 days stubble, I guess the OC would be better if tackling a weeks worth.) Once you get over the unusual idea/appearance it's actually quite a nifty feature as it has no impact on the day-to-day shave but when the growth is beyond Tech's and the like this can still (in theory) mow it down.

I’ll have to try an OC one day, it does look far more aggressive to the uninitiated.
Thanks for the info James

They are just as variable as SB razors to be honest, this one's a kitten :okay:

Pretty sure this one has some unintended defects in the finish (just my luck ) currently in correspondence with the manufacturer... If I end up with two this one will go out on pass around for people to try as it shaves perfectly fine, it's just cosmetic and being zamak will negatively affect the lifespan.

Two shaves in with this now... One thing I have noticed is what can feel very close to a BBS finish at the time of shaving doesnt tend to last very long, I mean, I shaved 8-ish hours ago and feel like I'll definitely be able to shave again tonight if I felt like it. Perhaps this is what @Grosser was referring to earlier in the thread... It doesnt seem to provide a "deep" shave, I'll stick a sharper blade in next time.

Three shaves in with this now and I'm beginning to form a picture of what sort of razor it is. Decided to go for broke today and loaded a Feather Hi-Stainless, result was an issue free near BBS in 3 passes shave, very smooth shaving and holding up better so far but I can tell it's still not as "deep" a shave as the Rocca for example.

So for best result it requires a sharp blade, the sharper the better in fact. The angle of attack is really small, literally a few mm in the wrong direction and it wont cut a damn thing... It's extremely mild, on par with a Feather AS-D2 which some found to have similar issues with angle and closeness of shave.

I would say it's a good razor for:

A) Beginners as there is negligible risk of cutting yourself
B) Those with sensitive skin irritated by aggressive razors
C) Those who shave daily and do not require a perfect BBS

So all in all it's no more interesting than any of the other plethora of entry level zamak razors out there, in fact I'm certain the mildness will turn many off from even trying it. I'm still waiting to hear back from them regarding the plating issues, as it stands if these issues are considered normal by the manufacturer I could not recommend it, sad to say but the average quality of razors coming out of China far exceeds this... It looks perfect when assembled, but dismantle it and...

That is a poor finish indeed. Yaqi razors are flawless in comparison..

Seems to be a bit of a German razor problem  I've had about a dozen Merkurs only one of which was perfect cosmetically, a Rocca with a head geometry issue, a dodgy R89 with zamak rot... And now this.

Enough is enough, maybe it's time to try something else...
From what I’ve heard, the problems we’ve had with the Rocca is not up to Mühle’s usual standard.
I haven’t even seen another Mühle in the flesh, but the finish is supposed to be good.

I still feel the smaller independent manufacturers pay a bit more attention to QC

I just feel fed up with them as there is always some issue... I've come to expect it now. I've had all of Muhles other models and the finish is very good its just unfortunate that sometimes they fall apart after a couple of years (zamak.) What is shocking is as Lee said earlier, the Yaqi razors are about £12 delivered and the finish equals any Muhle and blow this £45 Mulcuto out of the water.

I can hear a lump of Yank stainless steel machined in a garage calling me and it's sweet siren song is hard to resist much longer :heat:

It's a secret :p:

I've always wanted to try something from ATT but never seriously considered it... Going to put a few hours homework in as despite spending 3 years on the forums I have newb levels of knowledge when it comes to US razors. Even if they turn out to be rubbish it's something else to tick off the list
