New Mühle stainless steel razor 'Rocca'

LOL!
Understood and fair.
However, circumstances at home conspired against me and the shave has just been completed (15 mins ago).

I would like to point out also, that I did not use a new blade, but instead decided to run with the Shark Super Stainless that gave a great third shave on Tuesday.
Not the best time to experiment with a first ever forth shave with a blade maybe......
This circumstance also made me, in the moment, decide I was just going to do the WTG pass with the new Rocca head.

Definitely could tell on the XTG and ATG passes in the Tech, that the blade was “off the boil” but it was an acceptable result, although for the cost of a blade, I won’t do it again, no point.

@Dr Watson, see how I am hanging it out James, building your anticipation........

Rocca head - fit and aligned much better visually. I have always found this a very fussy, unforgiving razor, probably a bit too aggressive for me, but also useful to exaggerate blade preference.

I didn’t hold out a great deal of hope for much change this time, also as I ended up with an extra day or two growth (usually 2-3 days).
Much improved!
Mowed through the extra length stubble easily, still more blade feel than I prefer, but no nicks or irritation, no skipping or tugging, just a sense that the blade doesn’t have the edge I am used to or expect.

I switched to the Tech and felt the lack of decent edge a little more.

Will do a 3 pass shave with the Rocca only and a new blade on the next run, but dipping my toe in cautiously this time was a pleasant surprise and a clear and obvious change of behaviour, that was unexpected.

At this time very happy but will follow this up Monday or Tuesday with a proper test.........I hope you can survive that long James.

Will also get around to taking some further photos for reference and info of others.

Just pulling your leg matey, please dont rush it for me

Good to hear it seemed much improved :okay: I too found the skipping/tugging has completely vanished with the replacement head.

I wasn’t rushing, just enjoying blaming you.

Looking forward to trying it again with my usual two to 3 days growth, three passes and a new blade.
Also feeling a good deal more positive about what to expect from the experience.

Will take some photos and hopefully be able to show the difference between the two heads.

Haha, fair enough! I'll look forward to the update :okay:

@Missoni have you received yours yet?

Looking at the photos, I am not sure I understand the improvements of the bottom plate design. If anything, it looks harder to keep clean.

It is... Somehow little bits of stubble find their way inside the centre channel and won't rinse out, only way I've found is to use a paintbrush.

V2 left - V3 right

Sorry, the best I could capture with the iPad camera, as I was too lazy to get the camera, fit the macro les then try to work out how to take a photo with the camera gifted to me by my brother, then work out how to get it across to the iPad and not sure the resolution is compatible with the forum........

Top left V2/ bottom right V3
Both tightenened on the handle. Definite difference in fit and tolerance. V2 looks like almost curve surfaces, V3 tight flat fit.

Top right - V2 on the left. Clear warp to the baseplate
V3 clearly improved.

Bottom left - V2 on the left.
Tried to catch the light that passes between stone counter and the edge of the top plate.
V2 has a slight curve to it, actually on both ends with most forward point in the middle (if that makes sense).
Again, V3 improvement.

Centre.
V2 top left. Base plate the worst of the two from a cleaning perspective, top plate solid screw and tags bonded on
V3 bottom right has a far more machined, rather than moulded look.

Had a three pass shave at midnight, with a new Voskhod blade.
No skipping throughout, probably more aggressive with a little too much blade feel for me in reality, but forces that I maintain 0 pressure, caution and slow passes.
No irritation or weepers, though a very audible shave, which I liked.

This morning I have found two pin prick dots of blood on my chin, still no soreness and probably the closest shave I have experienced in my six months of returning to DE shaving in that there is still no feeling of the beginning of stubble.
I do manage BBS with the Tech, but after six hours I can feel the first signs, so this was sort of a BBS+, though I’m not sure I could use the Rocca as a daily shave, the Tech is more comfortable and carefree and long term is probably less damaging daily (not that I need or want to shave daily in general, but could increase to every other day).

Without doubt a vast improvement in the heads appearance and more importantly, performance.
Now, just to perfect that angle.........

Nice one, good to hear you finally got to experience a Rocca as it was intended to be!

I've used my new head three times now, much improved shave but I've come to the same conclusion as you, just a little too aggressive for my face and how often I shave... For the guy who shaves twice a week this could be the perfect razor.

Also, it does seem preferable for the late first pass, when I debate electric clippers.
It certainly deals with length and density better.

Maybe try just a two pass shave (WTG & XTG) and touch up. I've started doing this on certain days and it makes the Rocca more agreeable to the face!.

You should be able to achieve a DFS, i do a three pass shave when i have 2 days or more growth and it works well.

That did cross my mind as I had a very acceptable first pass and in some circumstances it would have “done”.
Second pass was already a DFS

Same here, I just do more 'cos I enjoy it (yeah I'm a loon.)
I think because I’m a Noob, it feels like a crime not going for BBS. It is all extra technique and practice after all.
And once I get good at it, I’ll go for a BBS because I can much more easily, plus, I am already standing at the sink prepared and with all the equipment laid out in front of me LOL

To be honest, it isn’t always necessary, but as long as I’m feeling comfortable and getting good passes, I do continue.
If I’m having one or those days then I do stop after the second pass.
Never stopped at one pass, but could have last night - but I was enjoying myself.

Also a Newbie and had taught a three pass shave was Mandatory!, as well as getting a BBS. But now a good irritation free shave seems to satisfy me.
