New Mühle stainless steel razor 'Rocca'

Given Mühles customer service reputation, I am not worried at all. I am convinced that they will make it right when some of the heads have a bad welding spot.

Of course, having a V1 head is a relief too but I am sure that Mühle will improve the V2 design if that's needed.

Copied from the Wolfman website: "Made from 316L stainless steel. The razor head is machined from solid bar stock, and the handle consists of 3 pieces that are machined and then permanently assembled. The main body of the handle is 316L stainless steel 16 gauge tubing, making this a light weight handle for its size."

They also posted the video on YouTube showing the assembly process, how exactly are they conning anyone? FWIW the parts are assembled using red LocTite and a press, they're not coming apart again. Personally I really like the hollow handle, I have a solid stainless UFO the same size that I don't use because it's too heavy.

I bought mine before any of those were released or unless I had missed them. I put my name on the wait list and was contacted directly and offered a razor. I still didn't know the handle was hollow and glued until later when I saw the video. Up until then I wrongly believed it to be a solid handle, when I heard it was hollow to keep the weight down for balance I wrongly presumed it had been drilled out and not just formed from a glued tube. Con may be a little strong,

I haven't ordered one yet, but I wouldn't be too concerned with manufacturing flukes, given Muhle's reputation and customer service. They will make right on any razor with problems. Abnormalities are bound to occur. I'm just happy that the condenses seems to be that it's a great razor, though I'd rather it shaved closer to the R89 than to the R41 (YMMV).

Ah, that makes sense if you were contacted directly rather than ordering from the website so you may not have seen the description.

Personally I'm confident that the parts are never going to separate so I don't mind that it's been assembled.

Personally I'm confident that the parts are never going to separate so I don't mind that it's been assembled.

I'm just happy that the condenses seems to be that it's a great razor, though I'd rather it shaved closer to the R89 than to the R41 (YMMV).

In my opinion, it definitely is closer to the R89 than to the R41. It is "medium aggressive" in my opinion.

I am using my Fatip OC this week, which clearly feels more aggressive on my face. But I am not sure that it is really more effective than the Mühle. I also think I would not like a heavier handle on the Mühle razor.

How did you come to this conclusion?

Because it looks like they used glue that does not hold up well vs the traditional method that non machined razors use. I'm sure all would of been fine if they used different glue, possible epoxy glue that acts like welding by penetrating both surfaces on the top cap and the pin. There are high grade glues such at that, it just takes care working with them and they are not on the cheap side.

Btw., for those who are determined to get one, I've received information that shaving.ie recently got Rocca with both types of handles... I hope I'm not breaking any rules by writing this. I didn't find anything prohibiting this in the Guidelines and I saw people posting this kind of info more than once (also, I'd like to know if I ever decide to get one ).

The Rocca is without a doubt more efficient than the R89. It is one of those razors that just works well. Always a close comfortable shave. I take my time with it, others may be able to sling it around their face not me though I find a little respect is in order although it isn't a frightening razor by any stretch of the imagination.

My Rocca has become my favourite razor. It is a bit shame because my others razors have been unused ever since I got Rocca. It feels now easy smooth razor and not so aggressive than my first impressions were. But that happened with R41 after using it more.

Maybe I will get the birch one too.

And yes the weldings are still ok .

Lately I've been using my Rocca with an Ikon OSS handle. That makes it feel very different again; the Ikon handle is shorter and heavier. Fun experiment, but I think Mühle made the right decision with a longer and lighter handle.

Yes I too tried heavier ss handle with it but I went back to the original handle..it is better that way for me.

Not much talk about the Rocca here. I have been using it more now. I still find it quite a smooth but at the same time quite an aggressive razor. I think it can be daily razor if you skip ATG pass. If you have milder hair growth this razor is probably not a good daily razor. I have watched reviews about Rocca and many of them end-up having a couple of weepers and razor burn in the end : D

Rocca + Feather. 2 pass WTG ATG, close, smooth, comfortable. The only DE I own. I’m not a collector so I don’t need to look any further into DE’s. It works very very well and it’s a looker, lucky me not having to keep throwing money at the next £200+ SS razor.
