I have to experience it myself..If it has some more "kick" than R89 it may work just fine for me.

Do not worry about the Birch, it is naturally waterproof. Birch bark is used for canoes so a little water on it from wet hands won't hurt it one bit. Mine looks as good as the day I got mine and it was used when I bought it. Just use it and enjoy it. It is nice to see Muhle make a handle look different to all the usual SS handles out there.

1st shave with Rocca done. I decided to shave half my face with Rocca and half with Rockwell 6S at R5..just to get some comparison what this Rocca is all about. This was my first shave so my opinion may change when I get more used to it. My observations:

- Rocca is definitely not like R89. No way. It has clearly more blade feel than R89. This was a surprise. With R89 it is hard to cut yourself but with Rocca I felt this thing can bite if you use too hard hand or shave fast like with R89
- Rockwell at R5 was smoother and less blade feel than Rocca
- Rocca did not clog
- if R89 is 0 at aggression and R41 is 5 at aggression...then I would say Rocca is something like 3 in aggression
- Rocca is beautifully made and finishing is excellent. It feels noticeably lighter than 6s and is a bit easier to manouver under the nose
- I think Rocca may be more aggressive than Rockwell at R6 but I need to shave more with Rocca
- I would not buy Rocca for someone as a first razor. Rockwell I would buy because it has mild plates too
- I have a feeling that Rocca will be able to give really close shaves

I've been shaving for almost a year with the Rocca now, and I agree with your observations. I cannot compare with the Rockwell though; only with the R89, Fatip, and R41 (2013).

As I mentioned; I would place the Rocca about halfway between the R89 and the Fatip OC. It does not clog indeed (I think I mentioned that too in the review I did in January). It is a bit more angle sensitive than some other razors. One of the reasons it may not be for beginners.

For me, it is an excellent razor. Glad that you enjoy the Rocca too

Second shave with Rocca. I still feel this razor is closer to R41 in face feel & efficiency than to R89. I remember when I first shaved with R41..it was not an easy shave. I get the same feeling with my first shaves with Rocca. So there is definitely a learning curve for me with this razor. Nowadays I find R41 one of my favourite razors so I am expecting that I need more shaves with Rocca.

The blade I have used was Voskhod. Maybe I try next time Polsilvers which are great in R41.

Definitely not to me, but that is really " YMMV" The R41 felt uncomfortably aggressive to me, while the R96 is easy once you find out the correct angle.
