This is exactly what I've done in the past! High quality cells, used with a good, high quality charger. Win win. Got to know what you're doing though, so just buy protected cells!

I liked the review, looked at the price and thought

I haven't had an EDC since the original Maglite Solitaire. I reckon I might stretch to a Fenix E01 v2 for Xmas

So, my lights are necessary and varied. I cannot imagine getting into the weeds about charging. $20 for the streamlight and AAA batteries do me well.
