Good luck! I hope it arrives quickly. It seems like they’ve got some issues in the Detroit post office… Mine finally departed San Diego at 5 this morning. I get that Monday is a holiday, but yet I don’t understand why it won’t arrive until Friday. They’re still moving packages through the system, there just aren’t any deliveries on Labor Day. Truly, orders from UK and EU arrive with less drama than do orders from California. It doesn’t make any sense to me.

6th shave with the Sabre and used the L2 guard as I shaved with the L1 yesterday. Just a simple flip and tighten the handle. The GEM blade has gotten better with every successive shave as the new Sabre takes full advantage of it providing smooth like ninja cutting efficiency. Easy to rinse and use while providing excellent tactile feel & grip at every stage of the shave. I'm more than pleased with this revamped creation by Blackland. This is without question a superior razor to the original Sabre. If one felt that the OG was OK but, not quite there especially in terms of shave efficiency, the remake will definitely get you to notice.

Is the number that's visible on the underside of the baseplate when the safety bar is fitted the level installed or is the the number facing in to the head?
There may have been instructions in the box. There may already have been a comment in this thread clarifying it. I'm too idle to check either of them so I come to you all for spoonfeeding!

Gentlemen, a week and a half after Shane and the crew packaged my beautiful new Sabre, I’ve finally had my first Blackland shave. Of course I went to the post office to pick it up, because tracking said, “piss off buddy, you’ll get it tomorrow…” and frankly, because even though I’m 65 years old and am supposed to be able to demonstrate patience and control, I could not and would not wait yet another day for my shiny new tool!
Three of my my last four Gem shaves have been with a Bullet Tip. I’ll direct my comparisons of this first Sabre shave to that model. My initial impression is that it shaved similarly to the Bullet Tip in efficiency, perhaps a wee bit more so, and with less effortful strokes. In terms of maneuverability, it is better balanced and easier to manipulate under the nose, around the mouth and by the sideburn/earlobe area. I found the handle ergonomically comfortable and reassuring. The sandblasted area is much grippier than I imagined it would be. I left the safety bar set to level 1, which is as it was shipped from Blackland, and loaded the Sabre with an AccuForge blade (this was shave 5). Auditory and tactile (fingers) feedback were within normal limits. The feel against the skin was smooth and glidey, which is why I splurged on the mirror polish. The Sabre was for me, significantly smoother feeling going against the grain on my cheeks, jawline and chin compared to the Bullet Tip. This was a pleasant surprise. I‘m guessing that it’s got something to do with the sleek lines of the head, and the material from which it’s constructed. The design of the head really unleashes and maximizes the full potential of the Gem blade. Loading the blade was a snap, and the handle screwed on easily and securely. I used the washer. My soap was vintage Williams, post shave was alum and a home blended (just for kicks!) bay rum concoction made from four different recent purchases. It was a drama free, two pass no touchups, near BBS shave. There were no nicks, cuts, weepers or post shave irritation. Two plus hours later my skin feels smooth and happy.
Unrelated to the shave or the razor itself, but directly related to the Blackland company, genuine admiration and respect for Shane who responded personally to every email in a timely manner, once, just mere minutes after I clicked send. He also designed one helluva beautiful razor! It’s the razor equivalent of a luxury sport sedan. It’s the priciest razor in my den and perhaps the prettiest. Definitely the sexiest.

Agreed! I’m glad that I dug a little deeper for the new Sabre. Tbh, my first consideration for ordering the polished finish was the slip factor. With some exceptions of course, it’s my considered opinion that polished razor caps are generally smoother feeling on the skin than matte or machined finishes.The polished version looks amazing.

Just a good & easy shave with the Sabre. Regardless of whisker growth or density, there's a guard plate that will knock it down with authority yet still take it easy on the epidermis.
For me an excellent razor & quickly becoming my favorite performing one from the Blackland brand.
