Have been wondering about my blood pressure recently. We have a Braun monitor and the readings have been north of 140.

I contacted the local surgery and am now monitoring twice a day for four days and have an appointment on 7th with the sawbones.

Hopefully it’ll turn out to be nothing serious but best to check.

Best Wishes Steve.

I am also going through some health issues and having an endoscopy on Friday, I am expecting it to show stomach ulcers. It is ridiculous how a small amount of food can make me feel overfull, one apple, one slice of bread, one cup of soup.

I give credit to the NHS, they have given me all the tests you can imagine including blood pressure and three separate blood tests, I was surprised to learn that I am anaemic, maybe to do with giving up meat and fish some years ago.

We moan about NHS waiting times but when there is a real risk they respond

PLEASE do not delay! Hight blood pressure is called the silent killer for good reason. I was 49 when I went for hernia surgery. As they put me under apparently my blood pressure spiked and I came close to stroking out based on the levels my blood pressure went up to. After I was recovered enough to be mobile I went to the cardiologist. My blood pressure was a little high but wasn't off the charts. So they put me on some blood pressure meds. But then when I had some blood work done it showed high creatinine. That's kidneys. I went to the nephrologist and it turns out my kidney function was reduced fairly significantly. He suspects the cause of my kidney issues was undiagnosed high blood pressure for an extended period of time. I now have to watch my kidney function very carefully. I'm not on dialysis but if there is further decline I may be looking at that. That is not something I want to have to deal with. So I'm watching potassium and phosphorus in my diet as well as fat. All of that stuff is bad. Take care of your blood pressure and if they recommend putting you on blood pressure meds, don't fight it. Take the meds. If you are overweight, lose the weight and get exercise. That could result in you not needing the blood pressure meds if your blood pressure can be lowered significantly. This stuff has ramifications for lots of things besides kidneys. There is a correlation between blood pressure, kidney issues and cardiac issues. It's serious stuff and I have to admit I got pretty damn scared at times when I had other issues unrelated to the blood pressure. Not trying to be a debbie downer. Just sharing my own experience and its cautionary tale.

My pressure spiked back in mid summer. It hit 199/100 which prompted a trip to the emergency room. In my case it was mostly stress related. But seeing numbers like that is very scary. It’s smart that you’re monitoring now. Stay on course, Steve

Ulcers are known to cause excessive gas, which could be the source of your feeling full. Pantoprazole and simethicone are excellent for my symptoms.

It’s good you’re taking care of yourself. We have to remember we’re not in our twenties anymore. Keep it up!

For the first time in my life i swapped out the shorts to winter clothes in the drawer in my first bed... winter where i live now arrives earlier and gets colder... today might get to 50⁰... global warming is too slow...

First bed? How many do you have?

"global warming is too slow..."

It doesn't exist, except in the normal sense of Earths axis movement and our distance from the sun which isn't constant. But don't tell anyone or you'll get disappeared for contradicting the narrative.

It appears you are the one repeating the narrative. :D

Humans. Very fragile. We exist on a very thin layer on some of the land masses on Earth. We can't live very far in the ground, for obvious reasons, and there is little air and much cold just a few thousand feet above sea level. Even some of the land masses are uninhabitable. We are insignificant in the grand scheme of things.
