It's... alive!
I'm more than happy to keep my landline and would love to pitch our new 5G cell phone. I just want a cell phone that is just a phone and not all the other crap that comes with it. I guess that comes from not having the need or wanting to be connect 24/7. Call me a luddite.

If you're on an Android phone and one of those that support the more recent versions, you can can sort of turn it into a "just phone" if you'd like - if you turn on the battery saver extreme, it's going to pause all the apps you have except those you choose to exclude, e.g. a dialler and texting app. Then you can turn the WiFi and Bluetooth off and you're pretty much at just phone level.
The advantage being that if you'd like some of the smartphone features back, you just disable battery saver, turn WiFi and (optionally) Bluetooth on and you're off to the races.

We were talking about painful memories. One is still embarrassing. It was a hot day in the 90s I was driving through a strange town, a bit early for a meeting, I really wanted an ice cream, stopped at a couple of places, sold out. The more that I couldn't buy one, the more I wanted one. Found a small supermarket, they had a Magnum but it was £3, I wasn't that desperate but they had a Vienetta on offer at £1, that will do.

I didn't think it through, back to the car, no way to eat it.

Dived in mouth first, damn thing was melting faster than I could eat it and ruddy big.

Ice cream everywhere including my shirt, face, fingers, car seat, steering wheel, down my tie, shoes, trousers. I looked like I had been the lead female star of a certain type of film.

By this time the meeting was due, there was only one thing for it.

"Hello it's Smiffy, sorry I cannot make the meeting, my car has broken down".
