If you're on an Android phone and one of those that support the more recent versions, you can can sort of turn it into a "just phone" if you'd like - if you turn on the battery saver extreme, it's going to pause all the apps you have except those you choose to exclude, e.g. a dialler and texting app. Then you can turn the WiFi and Bluetooth off and you're pretty much at just phone level.I'm more than happy to keep my landline and would love to pitch our new 5G cell phone. I just want a cell phone that is just a phone and not all the other crap that comes with it. I guess that comes from not having the need or wanting to be connect 24/7. Call me a luddite.

The advantage being that if you'd like some of the smartphone features back, you just disable battery saver, turn WiFi and (optionally) Bluetooth on and you're off to the races.
