More than one razor per shave..?

Sometimes I'm lucky to even be arsed to complete a shave with one razor. More than one would just be wayyyy too much of a fuss for me. I feel that if you need to swap DEs mid shave due to changing aggression, then maybe that razor which you can't do a full shave with, isn't for you.

Just my opinion mind, as with everything in this game YMMV.

It sounded like a hassle, but curiosity got the better of me, and I've recently tried a few combos of more than one razor per shave. The one that works best for me is Gillette Guard and then Schick Krona with a fresh Feather, 2 passes across the grain. The Guard really knocks the whisker down to size, like a tree felled for it's timber, then the Schick comes along with the Feather and dynamites the stump. The guard is light and requires little so it's almost like an added on blade instead of a separate razor with it's own character.
I cannot see it replacing just one razor (I've been putting in work to reduce the amount I use for a normal shave) but it's a worthwhile novelty, and this way - with Guard and Schick - takes me less time than a standard 2 pass shave with a single razor.

Anyone else do this, tried and didn't like it or..?

Same as you buddy 1 razor 2 passes except when starting with a straight. I used 2 when making a mental note, as to asses the differences.

I'm with Smallbeard, if one razor won't do the job by itself it's not good enough. Same with soap that you need to faff about with glycerine, pre-soaking or ritual dances to get it to work.

The only time I have swapped razors during a shave was with a Single Ring that someone had previously used to pull up carpet tacks. It was so bad I didn't even have the stones to unload to t'Bay.

Now this is kind of how I do it. I have my dovo shavette or my gillette sensor for lining up my beard and shaping my tash up under my nose and on my cheeks, and neck a mekur 34c. So for me i've not found I like one tool for all jobs. When my beard goes completely out of shape i'll even throw my wahl detailer clippers with a t-blade into the set to get those sharp clean lines.

Good point ! I hadn't thought of including shaping etc.
I tend to use my Greager Injector Kamisori (criminally, I should really properly shave with it more often) in combo with my Bravehead for trimming my tache. We're complicated men, one razor just doesn't do all the jobs that are required. :cool:

I do however use more than one brush quite often. Not by choice, but because my Semogue 620 boar brush rarely holds lather for more than one or two passes. I have no idea why I persevere with this brush, except I want it to work. I really like the size and the handle. Maybe I should attempt to re-knot it (or more likely kill the brush trying). But all this is off-topic.

That is quite unfortunate as I have never had any issues with this brush or any other brushes.
Are you loading enough soap? Have you even tried using a shave-stick to see if it improves things? :)

I've tried it all. Amount of soap, different lengths of soaking time, different soaps, sticks, creams and all the rest. The little bugger doesn't even produce enough decent lather from Castle Forbes. I admit that recently it worked with Wickhams Super Soft V2. But only once.
It's pretty though.
I'd try and put a decent synthetic knot in it, but I'm afraid this would ruin its looks. A lose-lose situation I'm afraid. Maybe I should give it a chance to break in. If lathering 50 times isn't enough, I'll aim for 100 :p:

Best of luck to you. If I were in the UK, I would offer to test it for you to see if I could coerce it to generate a three to four-pass shave. :)
