I finally broke down and changed carrier and phone. What brought it about was two factors, Microsoft declared Windows Phone dead (a shame because it actually worked and was zero problems over four years) but mainly because I had a really sever vertigo attack where I simply was too sick to crawl the ten feet or so to where my cell phone was sitting. I decided maybe one of the new Dick Tracy Two-Way Wrist Radios might be what I needed.
I was checking carriers and carrier after carrier simply pissed me off. I was already pissed at my carrier because one month the bill was a penny more than usual, I did not notice and paid the normal amount only to get Past Due notices. And their OnLine system will not accept a payment under a dollar. So I went into the store and the policy there was that they would not accept a transaction under a dollar.
I figured I'd give them another chance though so went to the main local branch to be greeted at the door by a guy playing games on his phone and giving the distinct impression I was interrupting routine and imposing unreasonably. I explained I just wanted to add a line and the watch and he explained they no longer offered the almost no data plans and so I would have to get two new lines at the higher price, he would need a non-refundable $75.00 deposit to order the watch I wanted (Samsung Gear S3 Classic) but I really needed an iPhone and iWatch.
So I tried a different carrier with an office only a few miles from my house and they had the watch and an LG K20 Plus phone and could set it all up and have it ready in about twenty minutes and ...
So I did, and they did, and the watch works and even has it's own number so if I leave the phone at home I am still in-touch and there is only one small issue which I will need to live with until I can hack the OS.
The watch chats.
It tells me when I have been sitting too long, when I need to exercise, what the weather is, do I want to listen to music or know where my friends are now? But one by one I am finding the apps and as the Red Queen said; "Off with their heads". YouTube and Facebook and Twitter have already been banished to the neitherworld and as soon as I get my hands on the fitness trainer he too will be history!
