Mind blown.

I see you are enjoying learning of the possibilities of your new Feather. I am also glad someone is talking about using a shavette. It is definitely a mindfulness practice and process.

Yes, but did you see what the dude did? He didn’t seem very mindful to me. Zippity zip, 20 seconds of wet the face, then he wields an open blade with no lather and bing bang boom, he’s done?! Zippity zip, just like that! Even if he has twenty years of practice with a Feather as his only shaving method, no prep? The guy has leather skin! I did find it slightly amusing when he seemed miffed that he had nicked himself. I mean, come on…

I have to admit this type of shaving is also becoming a bit of a draw for me too. Even if I just shave as normal and then do one stroke per shave. I think it's going to come sooner or later. Thankfully there's plenty of folks online to watch 🙄 first

It’s just shaves like a butter knife on the first pass without lathering, with 6 months of hairy beard growth.

Watch the lumberjack shaves with an axe, doesn’t normally need lather on the first pass shaves.

Have you tried your Feather? Those blades are as keen as any I have tried. They are also as durable as the GEM PTFE blade. While I share your reaction, if any blade can do it, it is a Feather.

It took me twelve years of traditional wet shaving to build the courage to try again. My first time was a blood bath. That was with a Parker 1/2 DE shavette. I knew right away 1, i had zero technique and didn’t know what I was doing and 2, de blades were too wimpy to use when condition 1 pre-existed. I used the Parker once then gave it to my then barber with a bunch of 7:00 Yellows. He still uses it afaik.

I don't even wet my face, just lather and shave. You must have girly skin!
