Mac Or PC

That’s a good point actually. A MacBook costs more than a low to mid end Windows laptop, but compare it to another aluminium ultrabook and the price gap closes.
I was looking at one of the top aluminium cased HP laptops and in all honesty it was not a patch on the Macbook Pro - it still seemed a bit flimsy.

I have always had pcs.
Mostly through ignorance.
But mostly they were second hand and I have upgraded them and fiddled about with them.

I don't use them anywhere near their potential, never have, whether for work or home.
I like that I can just upgrade a few bits when the world decides to make my computer slower.

So, given the information from you gents, I can now state that I am a pc guy and don't want a mac.

I didn't know I had that opinion until now, thanks.

My laptop is a Surface Pro 3 w/i7 running Windows 10. I love it. It can go from laptop to tablet with no issues, runs ANY app that my desktop and it is still running fast (even after 4 years). I tried the iPad and hated it. My mini is under my desk in the box gathering dust. It simply doesn't compare to my Windows 10 machines.

Now I did like the Surface Pro, it is built well but price wise it was much the same as an iPad so I didn’t bother. I must confess that the idea of building a PC from scratch definitely appealed to me. I found an excellent book which (I think for youngsters) which showed how they work right from the disk drive, but the nutcase in me would not have been contented until electricity and consequently the interaction of particular matter was explained to me. Since this area of human knowledge has not been fully realised I didn’t bother and bought another Mac. :hyper:

I have this affliction, wanting to understand the how, what and why things work, and the how, what and why of things those interact with, before I feel I have enough knowledge to continue, with enough understanding.
It’s a pest.
Luckily, I can still manage to shave without knowing how they make and sharpen such tiny slices of metal.

Thank you, now I can shave with confidence...........once I find out how they wax the paper and why there is such a perceived difference between brands.........chemical quality of the “foil” at the beginning, coatings, sharpening, none or all of the above........LOL

I’m afraid I have other obsessions which take priority at the moment - truly trivial they are too.

It's not really a fair comparison, iPads run IOS, it's just a big mobile phone. Despite what Apple are trying to claim it is not a replacement for a device running a desktop OS, even the iPad Pro isn't very Pro, it's just a bigger iPad with nicer screen and speakers.

FWIW I like my iPad a lot, but it's not a proper computer.

That is what I found trying to use the iPad. I assumed it would have a desktop version of iOS but it doesn't. I kinda bought into what Apple was advertising it to be and it just wasn't. I bought my Surface Pro to be an extension of my desktop and it works in that role. For me, that iPad wasn't was advertised so I put it back in the box and went back to my Surface.

If you are thinking about building a PC, don't overthink it. Just do it. You will learn a lot along the way. The process is kinda like a lego set.

I’m sorry if I gave the impression I was passing the heavy load on to you, these are mine.
Thank you for removing an obstacle on my journey :notworthy:
