Hello chaps as the thread title says i'm after a nice coconut scented AS splash. So would be good to have alcohol and some skin soothing. Not just after a scent. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

:facepalm:not what I was looking for lol. Good to see the forums scent guru is even stumped

Surely someone has created one, seems to me as coconut is used as ingredient in so many soaps, balms and shave products. Why wouldn't they make a splash with the scent?

Sorry it was on the tip of my tongue :) not sure why Coconut splashes aren't prominent, obviously plenty of balms and butters. Mr. Perfume has an oil probably a spray too called virgin islands which is Coconut based. I'm certainly no scent guru but plenty are on here so fingers crossed

Coconut? Coconut?

Each to their own, YMMV etc. But I'd go out of my way to avoid it. Good luck in your search though.

I do seem to remember that one of the Dove balms may have a coconut scent though.

What post shave balm would you recommend?

I wouldn't recommend any Coconut balm as I find it too clog my pores. Coconut oil for the hair is a different kettle of fish. I personally don't use a post shave balm, just aftershave. In winter I use a richer aftershave. If you need something enriching I would just make my own. Glycerine, vitamin E oil and some olive or almond oil.

As Nishy says, you could easily cobble your own mix up... and add some Coconut Essential Oil perhaps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coconut-Essential-Oil-100ml-/172409899979?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275

I've got maybe a dozen different EOs that get added to anything and everything
... Pre-shave balms, post shave concoctions, my Frankenoil contains half a dozen of the obvious oils plus some EO for added interest and don't seem to suffer any ill effects although I guess it's possible you would tread carefully in case something didn't agree with your skin.

What about making your own..it's dead easy. I make my own A/S splash and it works fine ...basically Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera (Optional) and Glycerin and pure essential oils Peppermint, Camphor and Eucalyptus) You can get pure coconut essential oils online. I am no Chemist and have skin like Freddie Kruger but the stuff I made has been great for my skin..I have tried others oils too (Lavender, Lemon, Sandalwood, Spearmint)

Here's something you need to factor in before you head off down the route of creating your own Coconut scented A/S -

One confusing factor that some people face is the difference between Coconut Fragrance Oil and Coconut Oil. Simple coconut oil is a semi-solid oil (at room temperature) that is often used for cooking purposes and has to be slightly warmed in order for it to turn into a liquid. This oil is made from coconuts and does not have the same strong fragrance that would be found in a Coconut Fragrance Oil that uses synthetic scents. Coconut Oil in its semi-solid state makes a great addition to handmade soaps as it provides softening to the skin.

This is probably why P&B will "meh" my suggestion for a Coconut n' Lime / Virign Island Water scented soap in their recent soap scent survey (as they want to use essential oils only).
