Listerene

Listerine was used as/marketed for several uses before it was mouthwash.

Listerine, for instance, was invented in the nineteenth century as powerful surgical antiseptic. It was later sold, in distilled form, as both a floor cleaner and a cure for gonorrhea. But it wasn't a runaway success until the 1920s, when it was pitched as a solution for "chronic halitosis"— a then obscure medical term for bad breath. Listerine's new ads featured forlorn young women and men, eager for marriage but turned off by their mate's rotten breath. "Can I be happy with him in spite of that?" one maiden asked herself. Until that time, bad breath was not conventionally considered such a catastrophe. But Listerine changed that. As the advertising scholar James B. Twitchellwrites, "Listerine did not make mouthwash as much as it made halitosis." In just seven years, the company's revenues rose from $115,000 to more than $8 million.

I use only alcohol-based aftershave splashes so I'll have to give Listerene a try. I hadn't thought about it before.

Because of the change in cosmetic laws over the decades I would hasten to guess that this is almost going to be different to what Listerene is today. That said anyone who tries this do post back, as todays formula may still make a good aftershave. :)

There is a very expensive linament for horses to rub down tired leg muscles. This old cowboy ( all cowboys are old or look that way) pulled out a GENERIC and labeled Listerine bottle and compared the three ingredients. All were virtually identical only my bottle with a wavy haired horsey label was $18, Listerine $ 9 and the generic $ 5. I wouldn't try it as anAS, but it's great for sore muscles; two footed and four footed.

Which one:roflmao:? One banned me for referencing an inside Californio Chicano joke on THE POCHO HOUR OF POWER for being bigoted against Latinos. What do I know? My GGGgrandfather was a San Patricio and I PMed him in Spanish. Another forum for being anti Semitic which my Chabbad Rebi neighbor laughed about and I flat out told a moderator what he could do after receiving a deeply hurtfull PM on #3 and I was to 'erudite and acting superior' on #4.
I'm trying to be good, really! If I give offense here it's a shaving forum in Azerbaijan.
