Knot replacement time

Oh I do, I do!!! But I installed a 28mm Maggard two band in a nice Rubberset barber handle brush for my son and it's pretty amazing! That was a couple of years ago and he still loves it, rarely uses anything else.

Nothing but boar for me from now on though.

Great to hear your son loves the brush and uses it on a regular basis. Do you have any pictures of it? I like the look of old shaving brushes like Ever Ready & Rubberset.

Looks like the original knot was a good quality flat top boar.

Yep, "Total Boat" Teak Oil. I get the wood clean and smooth and then soak the handle in it until it sinks, which is usually over night, but sometimes longer.

The original knot had shortened some and the center was gone, but yes, Rubberset knots are flat top and very nice when you get one in decent shape.
