King C. Gillette Double Edge Razor

The razor itself looks fairly unremarkable but IMO the real interesting aspect of the release are Gillette blades actually intended for the UK market. I'd be intrigued to find out where these blades are made, but at £5 for 10 I won't be buying them.

How long has it been since Gillette actually marketed DE blades for the UK/EU market?

£13.40, I hope that can get more people into wet shaving at that price, regardless of what you think that as to be a positive.

Amazing the interest in a DE razor specifically for beard triming and probably designed by some vendor. If Gillette only knew the potential market for a quality modern replica. Small market but could be profitable.

I still think Gillette have plans to release their own built razor, I'm sure now releasing this and it being widely available in stores, if this is a success there will be more. That can only be a good thing.

Has anyone tried the blades yet? I wonder what the quality is like of the blades, we know they can make a decent blade.

Gillette seem to be getting a lot of getting negativity for this on the forums but I think it is a superb idea. Even though Wilk Sword have had a DE razor in the shops they don't carry the gravitas of Gillette and it might encourage a few to take up this great hobby, like how the plastic Wilk Sword was my introduction (I bought it in my local chemist).

As for the blades I think that's a great idea as well, even if they are expensive and repackaged GP's. Occasionally I read of accounts for DE shavers forgetting their blades when they have to travel for work and if this puts an extra choice in supermarkets/chemists then all the better, I find it to be a superior blade to the ones found on the high street Eg Wilk Sword, Personna Tomy, Dorco.

They've still seen me off by £2.60 though :laugh:
