Keeping track of blade uses

Once I hit 3-4 uses on a DE blade I toss it. One of the few things in my life inexpensive enough that I don't worry.

I understand that, but I've had 16 great shaves from a vintage blade, so it's about not tossing a very good blade less than half way through its shave and making sure I don't have too many razor blades on the go at once.

I've looked at spreadsheets, but the immediacy of this is what makes it work for me, without having to faff with a pen.

Nice solution. Another one, probavly more expensive, could be a billiarts scoreboard like:

Here you just turn the knobs and these are made for use in bars so should be rugged.

Myself, the experimenting is in the slants and the straights. Blades I use Voskhod almost exclusively and I have a stash large enough to last me forty years with present shavinghabits and tossing them after four uses so any device is overkill. By the time I get forgetful enough to no longer remember how many uses my blade had I'm also forgetful enough not to remember to use a device.

I have tried apps on tablets and phones, but I tend not to have these with me in the bathroom. By the time I have one to hand, I've generally forgotten to up the counter.

Exactly, that's why I needed a way of counting them in the bathroom.

Nice ideas guys but if you prefer a smaller neater solution then try a dice. Cheap as chips off the bay, they come in different colours for different blades you may have on the go and I doubt many go beyond 6 uses on a blade.

I tried dice and visitors would play with them...now I used a blade 4 times max and wing it haha...

I do fine the process for changing a blade quite mindfull so some times I just do if because I like it

I use plastic pigeon leg bands clipped over a handy wire rail like below, abacus style. The number of rings on the left indicates the number of shaves per DE blade (top) and Gem blade (bottom).
