That was a very interesting watch Bob. Here in the North West UK, without having any fast and hard data, our winters are feeling milder and less snowy and we're having prolonged wet periods at times. I think some places this year recorded rain everywhere single day of January. It's fairly erratic throughout the year now and flooding has been a problem for lots of places all over the UK. Then we end up with hose pipe bans in the summer as our reservoirs and storage facilities run dry.
We have huge problems with our water networks also in terms of lack of investment over the years and now they're playing catch-up in a major way and bills are having to go up. Some areas like London are seeing enormous rises in bills.
That's quite a challenge ahead for you guys
Thanks for your comments. In our local area the colder weather came early but the snow came later which drove the frost line deeper than normal. The snow that did fall came a little at a time with some melting in between leading to a spring with no snow cover and the spring rains just running off the still frozen ground. the rivers and streams are higher than normal as all the runoff goes into them leading to flooding.
This prolonged freeze and thaw cycles have lead to many burst water mains and roads/highways in terrible condition. Should that be followed by a prolonged dry spell, it won't take long before the forests are too dry leading to a very bad forest fire season.
This summer is predicted to be hotter than normal placing heavy demand on the electrical grid system that is already close to it limits. I am dreading getting our electrical bill after running the house air conditioner this summer.
Like most other places the unit price for house utilities has also increased greatly. Life was already difficult and then it gets worse.
