Humiliation

I've been thinking about an op-ed I read a few months back about the public cost of humiliation. Of course there are many forms in which people shame others. It can be subtle or direct. This is an article explaining what and to whom humiliation is most likely to occur. The Psychology of Public Humiliation | Psychology Today

How can a person prepare themselves against shaming in whatever form it arrives. Two years ago I read a book where the author was defining what it means to be humble. He said there are three steps.
1. Do not pretend
2. Do not decide in advance how others should treat you.
3. Don't push

I am thinking of powerful people who use the power given to them or that they took in order to seek revenge on those they perceive humiliated them.

As an economist, the public cost of humiliation would be any type of help or support a person would need after becoming humiliated.

The redneck in me just says suck it up buttercup, that's life. Allot cheaper

Or a person can just be apathetic and just not care

Many ways to skin this cat
