How important is your soaps scent

As the title. Just how important is the fragrance of a soap to you? For me it comes way down the list. I prefer good sickness and after shave face feel. Is the fragrance over rated when most of us follow up with an aftershave anyway?

Performance is most important to me but I want the soap to have a nice fragrance as well as it just adds to my overall enjoyment. Something about making that lather in a warm scuttle with the scent wafting about that makes me feel good. For me personally, scentless soap or cream is senseless. Of course, YMMV.

It's not the most important thing, but if you have a great performing soap with a well developed fragrance, like, let us say, PannaCrema Nuvia Blu and Verde, very little can top a great sop like this

Performance and good post shave feel is essential for me. I like a nice thick creamy lather with good cushion and slickness, which leaves my skin feeling hydrated. I'm leaning towards scentless and milder, simpler soap scents...putting my head in the noose, I could stick with Haslinger soaps

Yea, scent is way down the list of important traits a shave soap must have for me. OTH when you hit one that ticks all the more important boxes and also gives you a scent that you like you really have a winner.

I don't use any after products so the scent is extremely important.
There are plenty of good soaps out there to keep me happy

Very important if I'm paying and expecting an "artisan" scent.
Some soaps I have moved simply because the scent was, IMO, simply too weak for the £££ I paid.
If I pay less, e.g. Haslinger, I know I get less scent, but the performance is just so good, scent becomes less of an issue...

I have not bought huge amounts of artisan soaps, but I have had some that have caused irritation and some of the scents have been way off beat for me. The bottom line for me is performance

I like "soapy" soaps, rather than complicated (and expensive) fragranced soaps. Palmolive shave stick, MWF, and Arko come into this first category. La Toja, though as good a performer as the others, had a scent I found off-putting. Fortunately, there is enough choice out there so I don't have to compromise between scent and performance.

With regards to question number 2 if we establish a control, say for example Stirling soaps. Scent depth and strength are both excellent IMO. Then comes performance. As thick as others? No but possibly the slickest. Really not to complain about. All the above at a very affordable price. Only a few artisans offer more IMO with regards to the control. However, I cannot factually state each artisans costs, products are very niche.

It is also interesting to consider where we are with artisan soaps. We've established great products for vege and tallow soaps, with simpler ingredients. Containers have come a long way including design, although older wooden bowls are fancy (thinking TOBS or D.R. Harris). It's also a very personal service and IMO more pleasant experience when buying.
