How do you store your shaving brushes?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some ideas on how to store and organise my shaving brush collection.

I currently have two glass shelves in my display cabinet, but I’m running out of space. The brushes that no longer fit in the cabinet will need to be stored in a box.

Ideally, I’d like a storage box with individual compartments, preferably with the brushes lying horizontally rather than standing upright.

For those of you who use storage boxes, would you mind sharing some photos of your setups? I’d be interested to see what solutions you’ve come up with.

Has anyone tried a 3D-printed storage box or organiser specifically designed for shaving brushes?

Looking forward to seeing your ideas and solutions!

Thanks a lot!

My collection is small, but if it ever grows to a size that needs to be organized that way, I’d probably just buy some of that stretchy tubular/net wound dressing stuff. Cut them into like 4” lengths and slip them over the brush/handles to protect them from damage. Then they can just live in drawers or shoeboxes or whatever.

I did that for a while but it molds the knot into a tight narrow shape that resists going back to normal.

Amazon has a bunch, different sizes and colors.

Ohhhh. Thanks for that.

Makes sense. I only use synthetics right now. Sounds like a bad way to ruin a nicely bloomed badger. Hope yours recovered.

My collection is tiny but I’ve taken over an entire linen closet for shaving gear and fragrances. I’m still enjoying the visibility for now. Brushes stand upright in various shallow boxes and lids.

You're welcome! 👍

Mine did recover after a few shaves.

I don’t quite understand why one would store a brush horizontally? If I had a large collection of brushes, I would prefer to build (or buy) a display case with a glass door. I’d put shelves inside and hang the brushes vertically, with the knot facing down—something like this (photo taken from the internet).

Hello! I have close to 100 shaving brushes and a display cabinet with two glass shelves where I can store about half of them upright.

The others are kept upright in an IKEA box that’s just tall enough to fit them. When I open the box, all I can see are the knots, which is why I’d like to store them in a way that makes them easier to identify when I want to use one.

I like to keep all my brushes in regular rotation, so I’m not looking to put them away because they’re not being used.

Knots hanging down achieves nothing, in fact probably better other way round.

100 shaving brushes!!! You’re my hero!!! I’ve had 4 brushes, and I’ve always struggled to decide which one to use. In that case, I think using a mesh net for the knot is a great idea—it lets you reduce the size of the brush without damaging the knot itself.
