ATG are not an organisation or members club, ATG does not hold any personal data that can identify an individual ( I think). If the hosts have personal data held somewhere then they could be controllers for the purposes of GDPR, which despite Brexit will remain in place as an amendment to the DPA.
If so then ATG has to register with the ICO and have a privacy statement. No problem about communications as it is only what we expect to have publicised.
Perhaps some tweaking may be necessary but nothing to worry about.
I have been drafting my own privacy statement and policies all afternoon as sadly I am one of those lawyers but like many in my area am classed as a sole trader.
It was too mundane to even post in the mundane news! @Nishy

Brilliant! Thanks for the information we ourselves don't hold any data as far as I know. We use 3rd party programs to effectively moderate the forum, enabling us to identify replicated accounts etc. I believe they would have to have their own measures in place. I was looking at the controller's policy/assigning a controller, to safeguard should any perosnal data be held in the future (which I'm not planning to do).

That means ATG isn't even a processor, the subcontracting out means that they are responsible for their privacy policy; data retention and disposal; near miss register etc.
Indeed even the one aspect that gets caught is marketing, however for me to see marketing on the forum is not the company using or accessing my personal data and therefore no infringement of my privacy.
The only issue I see is that say someone ( a data subject) wants to have the right to be forgotten and all data removed...who would they ask? Well they only will have published personal data, even if they have at all, themselves... so they have no real redress.
Not that any of this will stop claims management companies from trying to allege a breach of privacy which would be "de minimis non curat praetor" in any event.

There is a new forum, arose from the efforts to create a new german razor home.
www.das-beste-im-mann.de
The name will be changed perhaps and the forum is made with the same software like ATG.
I hope so - not very catchy :D
Gegen Den Strich? (German for 'against the grain') :D
It's a pity they couldn't get the database of posts from the old forum, a lot of good stuff will be lost.

Finally it seems that GR does not close
Indeed. They found a new owner willing to take the legal risks at the last minute.
The way this was handled has caused a lot of anger though and a lot of active members have moved over to the new forum.
150 members, 300 threads, 1700 posts in three days - quite impressive. I'm sensing a lot of pioneer spirit there.
At least the wealth of information in the old forum will stay online.
