Guess the brush game.

Hi

So we all know that the knots in our favourite brushes vary a lot. Some more dense, some more gel tipped, some 2 band, some Manchurian etc etc. However i just happened to be looking at some of my knots the other day and couldn't help but notice how difficult it is to tell the difference by looking alone.

So.... Just for a bit of fun i thought I'd post a picture here and see how confident the rest of you are at guessing which brush is which. If anyone replies, I'll give you the actual results when the guesses dry up.

The brushes were picked as they are similar sized knots, and i have tried to disguise the heights of the brushes by standing them on bits and bobs under a towel.

I appreciate the more devious of you may be able to zoom in enough to see some of handle colour but hey... You're only cheating yourself!!! Lol. ;-)

Brushes (L-R) :
Romera Manchurian 28mm (in wolf Whiskers handle).
Shavemac 26mm silvertip D01.
Simpsons Silvertip chubby 2.
Simpsons Manchurian T3.
Shavemac Silvertip 26mm.

Over to you. Personally i would struggle to get them right, and i own them! Lol.

Nice idea Matt :)
I believe it's a T4 not T3?

I would say starting at 1 o'clock, Simpson chubby the going clockwise, Shavemac D01, T4, Romera, Shavemac jade.

Ok, so in the words of the "youth of today" i will put this idea down as an "epic fail". However it may well have backed up my theory that they all look the bloody same, so no-one can tell by looking! Lol.

This does make me wonder exactly how manufacturers quality assure the hair they get? Especially if it isn't already formed into knots??? I.e it may LOOK good, but it may not feel good in action? Would be interesting to find out...

Anyway... Just to put @Nishy out of his misery, here were the brushes:

I got the Shavemac D01 and the Simpsons Chubby right, likely by sheer dumb luck
You would just imagine it would be easier to tell a Shavemac silvertip from the D01 silvertip due to the density. Same goes with a Simpsons chubby and t4.

Maybe it's just me, but visually I'm surprised they are all so similar.

Very true... That said, do you feel the difference when using them?

I got all five right but wouldn't want to post to save you all some embarrassment...:whistling: ehhh.

I really like how that RCE turned [sic.] out for you. They vary quite a bit but yours is really nice!

Thanks!

I spoke with Peter regarding what i wanted the brush to look like, i.e. quite a few small bands, because many of his blanks that i looked at had thick stripes. Obviously the chubby isn't very tall, so to get a few different colours the stripes needed to be thin. In the end he had a blank that was supposed to be vertical stripes that was just big enough to turn 90 degrees and turn into a chubby. He is a great guy to work with.... Once your on the list!!! :)
