Welcome to ATG. You'll like it here. Not sure what part of "upstate NY" you are but I know some parts of it pretty well. My grandmother lived in Putnam Valley when we were living on Long Island so to us that was upstate. Then as a kid I went to summer camp in the Adirondacks about 30 minutes North of Lake Placid in a town called Hawkeye. Then for college I went to University at Buffalo. Then during my early dating years I dated a woman who really liked Woodstock so we spent a fair amount of time in and around Woodstock, Bearsville, Mt. Tremper, etc. So, no matter what part of NY you come from, welcome.

Thanks MntnMan62. I’m just south of Albany. I like your avatar. Big fan of Frank’s. I’m actually going to see Dweezil tomorrow night in Albany. They’re performing the Hot Rats album. All the best.

P.S., I grew up in Kingston and am very familiar with the areas in and around Woodstock that you mentioned. I remember the Joyous Lake from some years age. I saw The Fabulous Rhinestones play there. That goes back quite a bit.

I'm jealous. I had wanted to check out this tour but just couldn't make it happen. I've seen Dweezil maybe 6 or 7 times. He's gotten a lot better over the years so the Hot Rats show should be good. If you are considering going to one of Ahmet Zappa's productions, I'd skip it. I took my son to the Hologram tour and it was a big dud. I do remember the Joyous Lake. There was always good music playing there. I used to stay at the Le Duchesse Anne Inn/Hotel before it burnt down. And really loved the chinese restaurant in Bearsville, although I can't remember the name of it at the moment. Anyway, enjoy the show tomorrow.

I have some great memories of Levon’s house on Plochman Lane. My friend Brian was the caretaker of the house during the summer in the 80’s when Levon was off filming The Right Stuff. Man, Levon was a great guy. So down to earth and just totally made of music. You could hear it it how he spoke and what he said.

The girlfriend that liked to go up to Woodstock was a Todd Rundgren freak. Apparently he had a house with a studio in or near Woodstock and she and her friend would sneak to his house and sit outside the studio while he was working on stuff. She said she heard him working on The Tubes Love Bomb album. Lots of musicians up there.
