Get my mojo back

Too much thinking and self reflection can bring a person down. There’s generally some bright spot to look for, something to grab hold of. I say this from experience. My wife and best friend of 39 years years was diagnosed at the start of the pandemic with stage 4 lung cancer. She’s still here, and we’re awaiting our first grandchild in April (can I get a woohoo?!?) Sometimes it’s best to let things go, whatever they may be, and listen to the old adage, stop and smell the roses.

I was in the same boat Wayne, it just became the old shaving routine again... You'll never get the same feeling you once had of it being a whole new world to discover/master/enjoy. Time to find new hobby mate but you can still feel smug in the knowledge you're enjoying better shaves than 98% of the population even if you now find it boring.
Cheers James.

I find that lack of time is what kills any interest in life itself.

Its when the schedule and workload means you have to "grab" a shower or a shave or a meal, rather than enjoy them.

With DE shaving, i have gotten much better results and satisfaction by setting aside a hard-rule 30 minutes and letting family know that's what's happening - phone gets set to silent ring and is just used for Spotify with my bathroom bluetooth speaker. The bathroom door is pushed close.

It also becomes very much a Zen / Mindfulness thing too when at a slow pace with no interruptions and i can have a proper beginning, middle and end.

Sounds to me that you’re denying who you currently are. You would like to enjoy shaving like you had in the past. Perhaps you can just be who you are now and find a way to enjoy shaving in the future. This way you honor the present you while still being involved here.
You could shave once a year and still be welcome here. It might feel different to you but different doesn’t need to mean bad.

This is what I've done, whilst shaving isn't yet a chore, I don't chase down the latest and greatest, nor do I get excited about my next Shave. Don't bother with SOTD posts anymore. Instead I've moved onto something else to keep me entertained. Mainly keeping plants alive and trying my hand at whittling of all things...

True but Rob is right. It depends upon the nature of the chat. I have been on a downer, not just with Shaving, with everything. I need to snap out of it. I basically am a clown, not in the bad sense, i have mean I have two faces. A public one and a private one. People like the public face, happy jolly joke teller, at home I'm a fecking idiot and grumpy bore who brings everyone down. I need a change and that little sentence from Rob is the best thing to happen to me in a while. Time to change and become what I am and not what I have become.
obviously dont know you or whats going on in your life but i can relate,
ive also kinda cba when it come to wet shaving, i even flipping got a foil electric shaver the other day, its that bad and btw theyre kinda crap too lool!

on a serious note maybe talk to someone you know and trust,
yea i understand talking sometimes doesnt help but sometimes i can help too,
i suppose you will never know until you try it out

Thank you, my friend. Gayle, my wife, has talked about being a grandmother since our daughters graduated college a decade ago. Our daughter and son-in-law will make excellent parents, and my wife will get to hold her grandchild! WOOHOO!

Thanks, Toby for the WOOHOO! I’ll second the HELL YEAH!!! Although I’m constantly on “high alert”, two years ago (Feb. 4, ‘20) my heart was in my throat, now it’s almost where it should be.

Gayle thinks a cure is pipe dream. When we look at the statements from the doctors, hospital, insurance, there’s so much money being charged and made, she says there’s no incentive to find a cure.
