My son is growing a beard. He's dead to me.

Whatever you tell him, at that age he will do the opposite. Tell him you really like his moustache and not to shave it off. It'll be gone by the morning.

Yeah, talk it up saying it looks really impressive but swap out the moustache wax for Veet leaving it temptingly on the bathroom basin.

Failing all that, grow a patchy moustache to match his and show it to his mates. If the embarrassment doesn't make it fall off, he'll shave it off in a nanosecond
